I'm looking at getting spray tint from summit racing. Has anyone here tinted out the orange parts of their rears? I'm just wondering if it's hard to do or if anyone can give me some pointers. Thanks.

I did it to mine with the summit VHT BLackout spray, they look great pitch black until you turn on the lights then natural color. Just spray it on like paint make sure it doesnt run or it will look like crap when you turn your tails on. Also you will need to get high intensity bulbs in order for the lights to shine through the black in the day time...You can get them at auto zone for about $1-3 a bulb....it isnt a difficult mod at all and i find that no one has blackouts for 240's really so it makes you all nice and original

Not Illegal in the State of Florida....had it for about 6 months and never been pulled over for it im pretty sure it isnt illegal in many states....most states say it is only illegal at night time but no one can tell anyways....and they arent covers so they still produce reflection

They are illegal in the Province of Quebec... I have a friend that did this to his 300ZX TT and he's constantly getting harassed by the cops.

i think blinkor was just wanting to spray his turn signals so this wouldnt be a problem.

It's not illegal to tint out your turn signals. I'm going to tint them out, and put brighter bulbs in so they shine through the tint. Thanks for the replies.

well i've got everything tinted out except my front turn signals which are clear. And never has a cop said anything to me about it, thought i maybe because i also have a 3rd brakelight and a brakelight on my supra style spoiler....but anyways i dont think it matters since the rear tails light up the exact same as say the 3rd brakelight or the supra light....i think that the covers may be illegal because they dont proudce as natural a light as the black out spray does....oh FYI the black out spray is just spray on window tint which you can buy from any Autozone or discount auto parts

Don't assume anything. It is easy enought to check your state/county's regulations on those things. May sound like a hassle. But it is a lot better than a phat ticket and the cost of putting your lights back to stock. Just a thought.

It's not illegal to do what the original post asked, to just tint the amber portion of the lights. The only requirement for un-lit taillight color is a red reflector.. and this doesn't mean you can't tint the red part, either (just how much, is the question). My GTI left the factory with dark taillights. They're not black, however, just dark red.

Spray paint and transparent red taillight spray.
