i was thinking of taking off the y pipe and the resonator box. i was just wondering if it is bad to run it without it on. and i was also going to take off the bottom half of the air filter box and put a peice of sheet metal on the bottom. so yeah is it safe or no? help!!! oh and if anyone knows any free mods help out. thanks

Make a bracket os something to hold the filter. Taking off that stuff won't hurt anything, it just makes more noise.

Are you talking about covering up the holes from the y-tube? I would just leave it alone.

Tighten and remove slack from accelerator cable.
Use 93 octane and advance timing 3 degrees.
K&N drop in Filter.
300zx Fuel Filter.
Check Tire Pressure.
Ditch the a/c if your brave enough.
Clean all grounds.
Synthetic Oil. Redline MT-90 in Trans.
Reset ECU.
Remove all Sound Deadening material.
Use Distilled Water and one bottle of Water Wetter for coolant.
Clean Throttle Body, PCV valve and etc... with Intake Cleaner not Carb. Cleaner.
Seafoam the Vacumn lines.
BG 44k in the Gas Tank.
Get a Full Tune Up with good Plugs, Wires, Cap and Rotor.
Thats a good foundation to start with, before Expensive Mods.

is this thread a joke? Just take off the resonator box, and the y pipe. I removed the bottom half of the air box and just ziptied the filter to the top half of the airbox. Worked just like any other "intake" filter. BTW i was using a K&N drop in at the time. I thought it worked great, definetly made a noticeable change in volume.
