alright so i got a ticket for going 90+ on the 5 highway on the way to SF.

the way it went was there was 4 cars, lets say i am A, the other cars B, C, and D.

well we were all speeding and the cop comes around and goes in front of everyone and tries to stop everyone. knowing my paste experiences with cops, i didnt try and drive away so i parked in BACK of the cop with B in front of the cop. the other 2 guys C D drove off.

well i got a ticket for going 90+ but i was really going about 100+. so i dont think he got us on radar.

the thing is, do you think i can get away with it if i fight it? saying that i got caught in the middle of everyone speeding and i was being overpassed? and didnt wanna drive away n shit?

or what else could i say to fight it?

You were going over 100 mph right? If you had actually got clocked at that speed they could have impounded your car and tossed you in the local slammer, till you got released on your own recognizance or someone posted bail.
I would count your stars as lucky take the ticket and do traffice school, so it does not appear on your record. Your arguement of getting caught up on, would fall on deaf ears with the judge, especially out on the 5 in the central valley. I drive that road all the time and I can honestly say most of the drivers out there are doing 85+ and they(the authorities) know it. CHP rule of thumb is anything over 80mph in socal and the central valley they will ticket. This is from a friends friend who is a CHP officer. I take his word as well because I have stayed at 80 on the 5 and been passed by CHP's but I have been over 80 , 85mph to be exact on radar and recieved a ticket.

yeah just take it, and go to traffic school. no point in fighting it as you voluntarily pulled over. you should have just kept driving, and exited asap, and just chill in the town area for a bit, then jump back on the hwy. thats what i do/ have done.

/\ thats the worst advice ever. yea try to get away! great idea.
if you want to fight the ticket, which i always do because why the fuck not, you can either show up to court and hope the cop is not there, or you can do a trial by decleration where u write a letter into the court and say why your not guilty.
good luck.

/\ the advice was given since there was 4 people being pulled over. if he was alone, the driving away advice wouldnt have been given

how bout just stop endangering other lives by going over 100 miles an hour on the highway, also wont be spending so much on gas. It gets old hearing about peoples ticket stories and how its not fair blah blah whether your a newbie or seasoned poster. you were speeding, build a bridge and drive the speed limit over it.

oh and some officers are trained to visually clock you by using landmarks and shit. im no chp nor do i live in california so my only real advise for you is you probably would get beter legal answers from a lawyer than other speedhappy kids on the internet

always fight ur tickets. the reason y ppl dont fight it is becuase of the hassle and bullshit u need to go thru but if u fight it u have a very good chance to gettin it dropped. Honestly you could probably fight this and win or have it completely dropped.
GO TO TICKETASSASSIN.COM or google ticket assassin and they tell u everythin on how to handle tickets. Ask to have the hearing in ur city so what happens is that cop has to come to your city to give his side of the case, but since its soo far away he probably wont even show up. wont hurt to fight it.

um...WORST way ever to clock somebody. it is the most inaccurate way, speeds generally end up being WAY higher than what they really are. there was a thread long ago, here, or on honda-tech, where these motorcycle guys were doing a sort of cannonball run for charity (yes charity) and the bikers were 'visually' clocked going like 240mph, from a plane. the bikes couldnt even go that fast, they had been tested like a week before for this run, and they topped out at 160. 80mph difference is a lot!

You were speeding. You got caught. Take responsibility and pay the ticket.

I agree with drift freaq...you got lucky as it is; considering how fast you were going.

Exactly.

You got caught going "90+" on a highway, I doubt the judge will take too kindly to you if you try and fight it...

Agreed totally! Take the responsibility, you knew you did something wrong and take the consequences. Don't try to fight something you knew you were wrong.

lmao its easy to tell someone to slow down or stop speeding until you are the one that actually gets caught, i guarantee each and everybody on here has had a bit of free spirited driving, otherwise why else would you be on here. take the ticket and learn from your mistake.

i agree with this

dont just eat it though. plead not guilty and go into court on your scheduled day. the prosecutor will cut you a break and get it reduced to something a little less extreme.

well i know i should just eat up the price of the ticket since its that bad of a ticket so yeah.

i guess no one ever doing anything illegal like speeding or drifting(in public roads) on zilvia right?

but yeah, the thing is i wont be going to court since i live 300 miles away from the place i got pulled over at. i talked to the cop and he said i could just write a statement instead of showing up.

please stop with the comments of "you were indangering others and all that, i really dont care about what could have happend at this point. my questions was

"do you think i can get away with it if i fight it? saying that i got caught in the middle of everyone speeding and i was being overpassed? and didnt wanna drive away n shit?

or what else could i say to fight it?"

i don't know about written statements and such

i do know that when appearing in person:

1. plead not guilty, go to court, officer doesn't show = you win. happens fairly often.
2. plead not guilty, go to court, officer shows, you question him and he can't remember stuff like time of day, weather, etc. = you win (usually). reasonable doubt.
3. plead not guilty, go to court, officer can't produce service records for the car or for radar gun, etc. = you win. can't verify speed.

alternatively
- if you have a clean record and act very sorry, judge will let you off with a warning and a fine.

i got the same experience tho... i just pay the fines and do the traffic school... as the written statement always not help...

This is to number 3, from what I've been told by a cop that if they're behind you or in front of you and you're doing the same speed as in this case the cop was in between two cars, I'm sure he was doing the same speed to know how fast they were all doing. It's pretty easy to win in court for their part.

Was this Fresno county? I got caught in that area -- cop said I was doing 100+, but wrote me up for 99mph. I was speeding, but I've never taken my car above 90mph so I knew he was wrong.

Truth is, I WAS speeding, so I just took the online traffic school option and paid the fine (I think it was $280). At least I finished the traffic school in an hour. Go speed reading skills! haha

So my opinion: you were speeding, so don't take up our court system's time and taxpayer money by fighting it.

im gonna fight it anyway and just ask for my fine to be lowered or cut in half or something. its worth a try.

PS. ZILVIA IS FULL OF ASSHOLES NOW. SERIOUSLY, WHAT HAPPEND?

i guess its a battle with who can have the most harshest comments? cuz they all seem to say the same thing but in different words.

FIGHT THE FUCKIN TICKET! Theres no reason to not. The fine will not increase, and you stand a good chance of getting away with it. Plead not guilty, and set a court date, usually like months away. 10 days before the court date (this is very important) call and request a trial by writen declatation. Write some BS and hope the cop doesnt. It doesnt really matter what you write cause your guilty until proven innocent.

If there is reasonable doubt in any sort of legal trial use that doubt to win. OJ what bitches?

fight anything and everything... it's also fun~ haha..

and come on people... i know most people here did over 95 plus before in their lives... i mean we all drive 240s.. we want to know how fast we can go and we always ask... " HOW DO WE TAKE OUT OUR GOVERNORS? " why would we ask that if we are not gonna go over 100? huh ?

idk .. haha but anyways back to the topic.. FIGHT it...
