This thing is BADASS AND PWNSZERS the ipod. FM radio, Video playback, FM recorder, Voice Recorder, Expandable micro SD card, and Replaceable batter. Retail is ~$200 for a 4gb, when on sale you can get them for 120 or so. Menu style reminds me of XP Media Center. The size is about the same as the Ipod nano, a little thicker though. Button layout is pretty simple and friendly. What do you guys think about it? Who has one.
Nano Killer: Maybe... iPod Vid Killer: Far From. Looks like a nice little unit though. Never heard of this company before.

EDIT: Oh, nevermind. SanDisk.

I think in terms of hardware this is a lot nicer than the Nano, but I bought my Nano because I like Apple's customer service.

I can see why it wouldnt be a video killer. The resolution isnt as high as the Ipod. In terms in features I think its more populated.
What other MP3 players do you guys use?

I use a 40GB Creative Zen Touch MP3 player. big as hell but it was about $100 cheaper than a 40Gig I-Pod when I bought it.
Rockboxed 5G 60GB iPod Video. My second choice at the time was the Cowon Audio X5. Haven't been paying attention lately. Quite content with my 5G. My favorite player of all time was the Rio Karma. Phenomenal(sp?) player, but too many problems. Now with Rockbox I can play FLAC files which sound amazing.

I saw a 20gb zen refurb at frys for 180 best deal i seen. Too bad it was only a day sale, havent seen for the past month.
The one thing that I love about the ipod is that its got so much support from the public. I mean you can fucking play doom on that bitch!

sandisk makes memory cards, not media players. it will suck, as have their previous mp3 players.

Have you actually held one? Have you used one? Its pointless to make a post without and evidence. Maybe you have used one in the past, but it IS the past. I dont just go out and buy anything. Ive played with this thing thw whole day and havent seen why I dont like it. Im a hardcore Ipod fan and went from a 1g all the way up to the mini. I can say Ive had about 4 ipods total. This thing doesnt have the sleekness the Ipod has, but it does perform on par and is priced right.
Please post evidence not crap. I can say i had an SR and it is pure crap. I can say that about anything, but if i dont back that up who will believe me.

I got one, but it ends tomorrow for the rebates. In the end I will be paying around 150 for e270 6gb. The vision m is definetly hot, but I like the Sansa. hope you will support the sansa!
Ritz is my internet enemy and post everything against my post.

you don't go from making crap to making gold overnight. give it time. and don't get all butthurt. i worked consumer electronics ( not proud of it lol!), i know plenty about sandisk.
The iPod's best feature is its easy to use scroll wheel navigation system, and that alone will keep me from buying anything else (not to mention huge aftermarket support). I really admire Apple for their user friendly, ergonomic, and sleek products. If only I had money to buy an iPod. haha.

yeah get the sansa since you probably have your mind set to it. The creative V looks pretty slick though.

Yeah thats something that no other mp3 player has. That huge support is great, but Id like to try something different. I mean dont you think that price and memory size is a good deal? Also the fact that it uses flash memory compared to a hard drive? Well see how long the thing will last in my hands. The ipods i had were pretty rugged too.
That's my one gripe about every other DAP out in the market. They all feel way cheap compared to an Ipod. Especially the Creative units. I was thinking about switching to a Zen M since it has way more features compared my G5 ipod but when I borrowed my friend's Zen to try it out, it feels like a kiddie toy. Plus its so easy to scratch cuz of the cheap plastic they use.

Waiting for the Media Center Portables to come out...
Till then I have my 60GB 5G that I got for $100 off after xmas return and the Sirius S50.
...Plus its so easy to scratch cuz of the cheap plastic they use.
Have you been introduced to a 5G iPod? LOL! I have owned tons of players and I can honestly say this has got to be the most easily scratched DAP ever created. I tried so hard for a while to keep it scratchless until one day I noticed a big one going accross the screen. I gave up after that. It has so many scratches on it, it looks foggy. And don't tell me to put it in a case or skin because that is just gay. People always tell me that, but what the hell is the point? So when it stops working you can take the skin off and say, "ah! no scratches!" Apple is so stupid for even allowing the thing to be released with a buttery soft casing like that. Oh well, it still does what I need it to do. Play music.

I dont have to own it to use one. I "borrow" (hehe) them from my friends and family members all the time. And I've used many other players this way too. If I test drive a car it doesnt take long to notice if its superb, mediocre or crap.

The Sansa doesnt feel like a toy IMHO. Its small but has a metal back. It feels SOLID, and has good weight to it where it doesnt feel flimsy.

How do you hack the psp to play dled games?
well its not really hacking its just downloading a program like devhook and run it on your psp if its version 1.5.
How do you use the psp as a mp3 player? The headphone amp on that thing sucks balls =\
alexchanman
07-16-2006, 12:07 AM
well you dwongrade to 1.5 and run homebrew apps lke emulators and other junk. devhook is also a great tool to use in it. the psp as an mp3 does alright, i dont demand alot of from it so its okay.

Helghast, glad you picked one up.
If you search ebay for "creative m sync", you can get a car charger, wall charger, and computer sync cable for like $15 shipped. Works great, cause I have one. While on ebay, there are several flex skin cases you can choose from for about $15 also.
Few tips for the M:
If you turn the switch to "hold" it'll turn off the screen for longer battery life.
If you kinda the touchpad all the way down with a bit force, it'll speed scroll.. Same with the up direction.

Thanks RITZ.
Little disappointed that the newer ones doesn't come with a Wall charger..
I'm looking into getting the "BSE" Skin. It's transparent and cost $5.
I love this thing..Movie transfer is so much better compared to the iTunes way.

soemtimes i dont understand why people listen to FM still. I mean you can have 30gb worth of music. The fm recorder is just a extra gimick that regular people wont use.

k..i'll ask again...HOW/Where did you get it for 100 bucks LESS than the ipod?
I just got mine today(creative vision M) and i'm overwhelmed with the whole process! So much to learn!! Any tips for a mp3 newb are appriciated!
oh...and i'm listening to fm radio on it right now... Sometimes its nice to not have to choose what you listen to... Also, how would you know about new artists/songs if you only listened to mp3!?

I've heard everyone likes that creative zen bs way better than Ipods. This thing looks pretty cool too. It's hard to defend Ipods as the best mp3 players, but obviously they are by far the best sellers, and will probably stay that way for a long time. Mine works fine for now though so I'm ok.

thinkin about the e270, but i hear the sound quality sux, even with better headphones... is that because of the wma format? does the sound still suck in mp3??

Good point. One thing no one in this thread discussed was the sound quality which to me is the most important thing. I used to be into high end headphones and stuff so I am a little picky. Sure the Sansa is cheap and looks cool, but how does it sound. That is what it is all about in the end. The music.
Check out this site. www.head-fi.org They are a little crazy(some headphone setups are worth more than peoples cars) but they will have tons of threads on the Sansa, I'm sure. Specifically sound quality.
