I have a set of Super Advans that are in pretty good condition, except for one thing, I CAN'T GET THE GOD DAMN BRAKE DUST OFF!! I can get some of it off, but alot of it is stuck on the lip and simple won't come off. Does anybody have any suggestions, solutions, or tricks that will help me get this stuff off?

if theyre not painted Catrol Super Clean should take it right off, but its not safe for clear coat or paint. if its painted a safe way to clean the brake dust is to clay bar.

I'd say acetone or Goof Off, but both can mess up the paint if you're not careful.

Take the wheels off your car. It makes is easier to clean them. Wash them inside and out. Then use a clay bar. After that, put a coat of wax on them. Make sure you don't use those wheel cleaners in the future as it will probally take the wax off. I just clean my wheels with meguires soap and a cheap microfiber towel.

if the lips cleared, use very, very fine steel wool...or try wetsanding with 1800+...other than that, give all the detailer products a try, such as banana wax or something...just be sure its safe for paint, clear, metals, etc...

Depends on the finish of the wheels. What have you tried thus far?

They're the Black/Red ones with the Red anodized lip, I've tried some wheel cleaner that said it removed brake dust, I've tried wheel polish and I've tried OOPS! None of it worked. I appears to be dust from some sort of metallic compund pad. Will the Castrol Super Clean or the steal wool harm the lip?
I'll take pic as soon as I can

Try simple green or purple power, light grit rubbing compound or scratch remover, pressure washer or let the wheels soke in a warm solvent bath for a few hours. You can try each or use any combination.

i wouldnt risk it, Castrol Super Clean with eat into the paint. clay bar is the safest method, it wont damage the paint.

I just went through this, took about 3 hours for each wheel.
The outside seemed the easiest, but the inside of the wheel near the inside of the car was almost impossible.
I used full strength simple green, A2Z and Mother's wheel cleaners, a nylon brush, and a plastic scrapper. Work slow.

you are being funny right?
This works when you maintain your wheels each week and only do normal driving.
Do some high temp runs with race brakes or have a brake seize like I did and see how you can wipe that 'black powdercoat' off with a rag. :)
And of course there is always buying a set of 5 year old wheels the guy never has cleaned.
Spick and Span the longer you let them soak the easier it is to get the brake dust off oh I do this with Hawk HP+.

week to week or even monthly brake dust should more or less always wipe off.
