View Full Version : Nismo power brace same as tanabe front brace

Do the two do the same thing. I saw the tanabe front brace on the modified mag project s14 and it seems close to the location of where a power brace would go? Just wanted to ask you all who would probably know for sure.
If so I assume nismo is sturdier by looks of design, and there would be no benefit to running bot if even possible?
Thanks

Been discussed before. Nismo is a better unit because it replaces stock tension rod brackets where a lot of flex takes place. You can use both combined IIRC. Tanabe bolts in the same area tension rods do. Nismo has a lateral bar in the middle of the 2 tension rod brackets.

The Tanabe piece is supposed to do the same thing as the power brace.
Subject has been covered before if you want comparison.

yah.. but the nismo power brace is a little better since its all 1 piece and boxed up, and it would be up to perfect spec for the frame measurements.
I want this its cheaper, jus gotta find who sells em

I was kinda figuring they do the same, but I was just thinking if thats the case, wouldn't they sorta cancel each other out. Like one would not add addtional stiffness over the other. Anyway gonna read over that link you gave me...thanks. I searched but I didn't get what I wasl looking for.

Power brace is MUCH better for the s13. I felt a big difference in steering feel when I installed mine.

I put the nismo brace on my s13 and I put the nismo brace and tanabe brace on my s14. So I don't have a direct comparison, being as how it's across two diffrent cars. But if I were to choose one it would be the nismo tension rod brace. It has more mounting locations. So it can brace all over instead of just bracing the tension rods it's self.
The tanabe brace is only as strong as what it's mounding to. In this case it's the tension rod brackets.
And for another fifty bucks added to the price of the nismo brace why not just go ahead and get it.
To anwser your question, yes I did notice a huge diff over stock.
Before you buy this you should purchace tension rods themselves.

o yyeah i was supposed to mention that the s14 (97 kouki in my case) the suspension is a lot stiffer compared to the s13, both stock that is.
i think thast is in certain forums like for sale... right????

The s14 isn't stiffer par say then the s13. It's just that you have a newer model so all the bushings and linkakges are still fairly new.

Man, this is comedy.
Why didn't any of you think to type in "Ultra Racing" from the simple and plain logo on the brace, Tek, the company is already familiar with the drifting scene.
The only thing w/ them is, they're in Malaysia! so EBAY will probably be the only way to obtain that multipoint brace for a minute.

nismo brace appears to be 'better', i have one, and it's awesome,
but if you know a welder to weld on that damn middle piece, it does the same thing

The ultra racing bar is a nice piece, but that would be worn to dust by people with low cars.
