Just curious if anyone is running one of the GPS car tracking devices in their 240s? Since the theft rate for 240s has gone up I am thinking of getting one like this :http://www.rmtracking.com/gpsproducts/CYNTRX-GPS.html, it seems pretty cheap and better then an alarm. My question is if the car is towed and you know the location of the car, would the cop help you recover it? I heard cops dont care if your car gets stolen even if it has a locater on it.

It's probably best to get both an alarm and a GPS tracker. I think it's more likely, during a theft incident, that it'll a smash and grab job, in which case an alarm would be of better use. GPS is definitely a plus also.

You can also use it to help as in data-loging when your out at the track but thats mainly if your a roadracer aka grip driver, dont see how it would help a drifter other than as mensioned already.

when you find the location, go to the place that the car is at with like 20 big ass guys and then call the cops and say.... my car is here! go get it!

You only do one or the other, not both.

Bring 20 big guys with you to the place and get it back yourself or call the cops. If you do both, it might get crazy.

I would just call the cops just because I want that person to serve some time and make it to the news and hope that everyone else's car that he or she or they stole will know too and have a chance to recovery their property.

I think LoJack would be a better tracking device because it uses a radio signal frequency, rather than GPS. GPS needs clear sight of the sky, so if the theives steal your car and park it where the sky is blocked, such as inside a parking structure, or inside of something, then it will be useless because it won't work. Whereas radio signal can travel through walls and such, so I believe LoJack is the best to get.

it data logs the location of where the car has gone. And yes, it will still work under a parking garage.

Hulk Hogan used one to track his daughter, I'll do the same thing when I have kids.

Goto mologogo.com they have free tracking software for some java phones. I went and got a i415 boost phone. Phone is like $60-80 where ya get it, then it's like $6/month for the data service. It uses GPS and Radio to track you car. Radio is VERY inaccurate, basically just maps the cell node you connect to. GPS needs sky, phone sitting on passenger seat had no problems on the freeway & streets... but there is also a delay between updates (2+ mins between).

Street justice > police. :fawkd:

I'm building a tracking site, since mologogo's site sucks, will be done some time this month.

motonagam i would think GPS actually gets pretty good signal. because it uses satelites. i mean cellphones get pretty much service in most places right?

and lojack uses radio signal, and last time i noticed radio signals dont seem to be that great in most cars.. its always cutting in and out.

but i could be wrong..maybe my logic is flawed, i dont know really anything about satelite and radio signals.
