Guys, just an FYI... Altamont will not hold Open Practice sessions unless there are at least 7 drivers confirmed for that day. Tomorrow included. So if you plan to go please email me or post here so we can notify the Altamont staff... you can also call them yourself, but this is just a heads up so you don't waste gas heading out there.

Have fun to those that head out if the 7 show up!!! I know of 2 going already this week... so just 5 more and you're good!

What time do they plan to open the track? I'm guessing that it's the same time that they have on their web site. 2pm-8pm? Thanks

Shiieeeet. There's drift day, which is sold out instantly and has huge wait lines. Then there's Just Drift which is often times not for amateurs. I dunno. From what I read on you guys up north Altamont was pretty regular (until that BS with street drifting.)

I dunno I'm just a noob. Have fun buddies to the north!

DJPimpFlex
07-01-2006, 02:20 AM
there were like 7 or 8 drifters and only 2 oval cars. It was cool. you wont need any more track time. Me and Jon Wayne both are drifted out after today.....

Shit...I want/need to go so bad but I have so much stuff to take care of. How do you always make it to these things. Ether not talked about, or when it is, it's anounced too late...Work and things get in the way. I know the one time I do make it out there will be tons of people. I just need 1 or 2 events with ALOT of seat time. Just to catch back up to were I was. :2f2f:

It has been a wile. :)

I work next Friday so that is out. I guess I can start getting Fridays off. But that may take another month to go into effect. New job and all too.

Glad you guys had fun though and the Altimount seen is alive. :bigok:

Thanks!

If by "dl" you mean "posted on Altamont's web site and basically is common knowledge," then, yes, you are correct.

PimpFlex, how many tires did you go through in one day? What is the track surface like?

if its common knowledge then how come you didn't know drifting was allowed on fridays until a few of us went?

to santacruisin.. track is super smooth. 2 pairs if more than enough.

AutoRnD

the track is too slick.
and after everyone goes offroading its hard to get any traction.

gbond15
07-03-2006, 02:54 PM
the new surface is alot better than the old but it is deffinetly slippier in certain areas, some areas seem to be really grippy. Tire wear is alot better for me than last year. Try not to go off track cause the dirt is really deep and it will cause a huge mess if you fling it on the track. i didn't bring my car this last friday but came to watch a to see how you guys were doing.

so who here is going to drift battle this upcomming thursday?

It seemed that the left side of the oval (if coming in on the straight passing the start finish line seemed to be less grippy. Temperature seemed to effect the track more than I'm used to. As the night went on I seemed to have less and less grip. I would come hot into the oval in 3rd and just spin right around in the dirt. It had to happen 3 times for me to adjust my style. Oh well. I hate driving that car now.

if its common knowledge then how come you didn't know drifting was allowed on fridays until a few of us went?

cause when I called them when they first posted the open track sessions on their site, I was told by the genius that answered the phone that drifting was not allowed.

of course that ended up being total BS, but hey, whatever's clever.

My main point was that the open track sessions aren't exactly a secret.

See you guys there tomorrow!
ps - ben. i'll beat your ass at Third Strike. lol
