first don't buy parts unless you know how to install them first.
second don't buy parts unless you will be installing them SOON.
third a 300ZX MC (z32) is two bolts to install not one.
I have a 17/16 in my 98SE ... read the link above several times.
If you are not swapping all 4 brakes then this is retarded...if you are keep reading:
For your S14 get R33 GTS-T rear brake lines.
36531-15U10 Left ebrake cable R33
36530-15U10 Right ebrake cable R33
swap the brackets to what's on your S14 in the back. Easy replacement.

What would you accomplish by going to a 17/16" MC on stock brakes or even just converted fronts?

better proportioning than the stock MC with z32 front. The 7/8" just doesnt cut it. Jon Wayen and I both fun Z32 MC's with stock rears and its great. IMO the 17/16 is to big for stcck rears and Z32 fronts, but he likes it. I have 15/16 on my car and I love it. The 7/8" is very touchy and tends to lock the rears.

exactly without all 4 switched the 17/16 is going to be too big (however, SOME people may like it with just a front swap).
I have R33 GTS-T up front and Z32 rears. The 17/16 is a lot 'softer' than the 7/8" or whatever my 98SE manual had stock, however; in panic situations that would lock up extremely easy even with my 235/40R17 Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3's....now I can still get them locked if I want, but it's extremely easy to modulate. It's takes a strong leg to do a full lock, but anyone should be able to deliver that when needed.
I am running HPS pads which aren't the best initial bite pads either, but so little brake dust :) and can deliver on the street when needed.

well everything in cars is preference, but the 17/16 is an improvement over 7/8 with Z32 front and stock rears. I agree that its to stiff overall.

i have only my front brakes swapped, i also have the MC done, i would highly recommend it. drove it both ways i prefer a stiffer pedal, and the 300zx mc gives me that.

it's be helpful to the others to state the size of it when you mention it.

cool, I like my 17/16, but I would have loved to been able to A/B it and a 1" or even 15/16 to see what each felt like.
I love being able to hear when my tires start to lock and modulate though, with my stock setup it was lock or no lock...not much in between (I don't know what kind of pads were on it though and that could have been part of the issue).
