Hey, im trying to install my autometer elec. oil pressure gauge, and i know that to take out the stock unit you need a deep 22mm, which ive got, an impact socket, but the socket wont go on it, i know that its deep enough, but i cant even get a 27mm on it either, i took some pics, it looks pretty rounded off, any suggustions since there isnt much room to work with it while on the car...
This is on a KA24DE btw

Unbolt the whole oil filter bracket so you're not dicking around in that cramped space. Once its outside the car, you can have your way with it. Screw the socket, just use channel lock pliers, or vice grips. Also, make sure you use a braided hose between the sender and the oil passage, cuz on a KA the sender may interfere with the alternator, or even the oil filter.
BTW, what thread size and pitch is the stock KA oil pressure switch?

FTBS, get a oil filter relocator and it makes life easier. Even has two ports for press/temp. And if you do it, don't be a tool and mount it on the shock tower like everyone does to show their bling. Mount it down below under the car, this will also keep oil in the filter and the lines after the engine is shut off.

Four M10 bolts, one at each corner. Reseal it during installation to prevent leaks.
Or better yet, get a good pair of vicegrips on the OE sender, once the threads are broken loose it should come right out.

yea the problem im having is that there isnt that much room to get the vice grips onto the sender unit, also when taking out those 4 bolts, is there anything in the way? like the intake manifold support bars that attach to the block at the alternator bracket?

I went through this recently on my SR. After 3 trips to the parts store I ended up with a Chrsysler oil sending unit socket. The sending unit is an odd shape with rounded corners, so regular hex sockets won't fit.
