I was wondering if its possible to run a 205/40/17 on a 17x9 inch rim.

What i'm planning on doing is "Trying" to fit the sport max 962 on my Acura Integra 4DR. The setup i wanted to try and fit is the 17x9 +35mm offsett all around.

I know I would have to do a few things to make them fit, like run lots of camber, slamm my car and to roll the s.hit out of my fenders.

I wanted to know how the 205/40/17 tires look on any 17x9 inch rim.

Post Them Up!

Thanks In Advance.

this is just a bad idea.

you are going to pop beads left and right, bend the wheels as soon as you touch a pothole, and probably not even have your full turn radius. are you sure the wheels even clear integra front suspension and wells?

fuck, functionality! i dont care if it actually makes my car handle worse and go slower, i want something that looks good at the moment. GREAT IDEA!

i don't think 17x9 +35 will clear the integra. 17x7 +30 barely clears.

could be wrong. correct me if i'm wrong...

I used to run 205/40-17 on 17x9.
BFG TA kd or whatever they are called.
It works, but it is pretty damn stretched.

you should be more concerned on whether or not the 17x9 will even fit a car that's meant to run 14x6.

205 on 17x9 isn't that crazy, but it's pointless. If you have a rim that wide, you should atleast run 225.

I've done lots of different 205/40/17 on 17x9. Easy as pie. Mega stretch.

i ran this daily driver for a while, no problems at all. 205 40 17 is fine on a 9.

i ran a 16x7.5 +32mm and it cleared my civic with no problem. this was with a 205/40/16.

i was thinking that cause a 205/40 on a 17x7 looks pretty weak sauce. So about 2 more inches seem alot, but not that much were its impossible.

that does look good, but a 205/40 would look even hotter i think.

Why don't you just run some electrical tape around the wheel so that it looks like you have a tire? Dude, You seem to be trying to get the VIP look on an Interga for really cheap, it ain't gonna be easy, and like most of the guys here are telling you, it's gonna look pretty damn goofy, and fitting the wheel on both sides is going to be a major issue.

I'm sorry dude, but 215's look fine. I wouldn't go 205 if I were you. Too many issues (already stated above).

ya the rim gets fucked up really easy, like hit a small pot hole and its a big deal, there is no protection for the lip, but it looks cool from the side you can see that lip line thingy lol. anyways depending on the tire youll need the cheetah, but it definalty works, and it defiantly draws attention if thats what your after. the euro dudes will love it.

I wouldn't do a 17x9 +35 on an Integra, most width I'd run is 8" wide. In that low of an offset you're going to no doubt have clearance issues, not to mention that much of a stretch is dangerous to drive on.

the thing with the euro guys is that they run the wider rim in the rear. I want it to look all uniform all around.

+35 on an integra has been done before. i use to run a 16x7.5 +32 and it was no problem. so its a 17x9 +35 shouldnt be THAT bad.

thats about 16.5mm further out not to mention the base diameter of wheel is larger too. If you're worried about fender clearance issues, and that's why you want a 205/40 then I don't know what to tell you.

... :ugh:

well, this setup will stick out about 3/4 an inch more, or about 13mmish.
its not dangerous, unless you get a flat/nail and dont notice it, and drive aorund like that for a while, or something like that.

just do it, "dont read, look" just like boyle himself said when he was showing people he could make a vacuum back during the scientific revolution, but haters said it was impossible.
dont read, look
its fine, people that say its dangerous just read sometihng and repost it, like most people online do. hardly any one has exprience with that kind of a strectch, beads need consderable force to break, it wouldnt happen by chance or becuase you run a cigarette over on the highway.
do it to it.

at least you came to the right place to ask questions on stretching tires!
zilvia, the home of putting skinny tires on wide wheels, where functionality takes a back seat to the drifter look. If you ever get this done, please post pictures, at least you get points for originality

Stretching a tire to the point where it is dangerous, just for looks is plain stupid. If you care about looks so much you shouldn't be rolling around in a 4-door integra...

No to be a dick, but arent we a 240sx board? Why are we talking about Integra's and a 4 door at that? Maybe if it was Turbo GSR or Turbo LSVtec.

I wouldnt run 205, not if I just dropped a pretty penny on a set of rims. But then again your running Sport Max's. Plus the fact that thats like a 1in between your rim and your tire? Not to mention turn radius, rubbing, and sticking out. I would roll on steelies, sell your car and get something that a elderly lady isnt expected to get out of. Just my .02. *a

to this guy's defense, he's goin to the place where it's probably much more common to see that wheel width / tire combo..I'm betting you don't see it much on honda forums.
