Well..I just wanted to get some opinions, sorry if this is a long post or a boring thread. Basically I have some pretty big health problems,my back has been fused and has titanium screws in it,I broke my neck in 3 places before,so that hurts(thank god for chiropractor!) and I just had my knee worked on(no thanks for my s13),so I had to quit my job. I had litterally just graduated from trade school, and was finishing up my apprenticeship. Basically its in shop training + schooling = get your license. Iwas going to be a cosmetologist, but I had two shop openers(excellent business managers and cosmetologist) tell me I wasn't suited for the job. I just didn't pick up alot of skill in making peopels hair and shit look good...wich with the knee now,I can't.
Basically all my old bosses say I work great with people, like sales, customer relations and etc. and I absolutely LOVE it. I love being on my feet, and multitasking(I'm adhd) ...but I really cannot think of ANYTHING I can do thats worthwhile that I actually want to do.
I always dreamed of military/police,or car stuff,but apparently I can't do that.

Well, most universities have a career department where you can take a Myers-Briggs test that lets you know your strong areas and what fields you can go into. The advisors can sit with you and help you decide something. The fees should be minimal if you aren't a student as compared to a job agency. Hope that helps.

''sometimes I wonder I why bother?''
Let me tell you one thing..............YOU have one harry knee!!!!!!!!LOL
No really, I'm sorry you are hating it right now. Hang tough, get mad, bull your way through it!! I'm with you, I lost my right eye to cancer 4 years ago. It suuuuuucked. So I know the ''why bother.''
Do you think you could get in to sales in the cosmetic field? They have to supply their shops!! Just a thought.

wow...I agree with the guy that said go to a college and take the career test. It doesnt even mean you have to take classes....Those tests just give you an IDEA of what jobs you might like... They dont ONLY tell you about jobs that require schooling...Heck, it might tell you to be a trashman...who knows...Sometimes the results are dead on, sometimes way off...try it though..
if you dont mind me asking, can you explain what happened in EACH of your accidents?
Life prolly sucks now, but it will only get better as long as you stay away from substances(many people lean on drugs/alcohol during these times, and more often than not, end up homeless..The others only get stronger)

Thanks for the replies guys..sorry about teh eye bro...I think I will look into the test thing, but I'm really broke so that might be hard...But I will look into it! Yeah I try not to drink away everything...but I drink anyway,so w/e.
Umm..
Taurus wreck~seatbelt fucked up,airbag pushed me into teh windsheild and broke 3 bones in my neck(go ford!) and gave me hearing damage, and a concussion...still have ringing in my ear-was riding passenger, didnt have my license yet,car went off road and hit a concrete ditch pipe.
Back surgery(2001) was due to a birth deffect(sp) but I was OKAY after the surgery,I started working on MGs and Triumps and stuff on the side (I couldn't legally get a job,I was 14-15.) and then ..
s13 wreck(2004)~dislocated left knee,sprained both ankles,and sprained my back. Rear-ended a corolla..
My back was too fucked to work on cars anymore...I can't even wax my shit after that. I used to wax my s13 every weekend ...
Basically knee was fine until recently just has been getting worse and worse and I basically was told by my second salon I was doing my apprenticeship in that I wasn't good for cutting hair.
Sales might be good for me,but I geuss I'm somewhat scared of going into something commision based.
As stupid as it might sound,...I kind of really want to "make something" of myself,I grew up somewhat poor, and I have never really known what its like to be financially stable. My girl has 6 years of college, and will be graduating with her second bachelors degree too...so I'm like,I dont want her to be
the main "breadwinner" should I stay with her(I hope to!) but I mean...shes been getting offers for like 65-70k starting pay...damn nurse

Wanting to make somthing of yourself is not stuped!! It seems to me these days, that alot of people that I have encountered figure that they are owed a pay check and get mad because I expect them to do a days work!!!
As for your girl, If you love each other don't let pride get in the way. I plan on my wife going to school and then she will suport us wile I go to school, or open a car shop;) remember you are supose to be a team. Well that is my two cents worth. Sorry to rambel on,LOL.

keep your head up and STOP FUCKING DRINKING.
I'm serious about this....... You have enough going against you as it is, and drinking will only drop you two notches lower. It kills inhibition(sp), takes your money, and makes you less attractive to the gf. I know i sound like a fag now, but seriously, my best advice is to stay away from ANY mind altering substances(other than anti-depressants).
Theres still plenty you can do in life to be well off in the money department.. BTW- i think that test we were talking about is free at a community college. It is here in socal anyways....

Thanks for all the replies. I geuss I should clarify...I dont feel me wanting to make something is stupid really, its just the reason why...or my inspiration/motivation why!? If that makes sence.
My girl drinks too,we are both just social drinkers, but I will def. try to curb that a little more. I do like to party...(as does my girl, lol.)
Thanks AZ-I almost forgot I put a thread up about having surgery
Nik-that sucks about your employees, haha. I always tried to work hard to 'earn my pay' thats how a job supposed to work, right?
Dizasta-anymore info about your job? I imagine that is clientelle/comission type based, correct? I'm interested.
I was also thinking about getting a real estate license,I was told I could do it part time as "supplemental income" so to speak. I'm young,...I used to be capable of working 12+ ,14+ hour days,so I don't mind 'putting in work' to get myself back on my feet with a couple of jobs, then maybe work and school or whatever.
One of my biggest issues is that I am not very scholastic. I learn easily, but school comes very hard for some reason. Thats why I dropped out in middle school(yes, middle school:() and got a GED. Cosmetology school was two semesters, and that shit was hard enough for me...

i wouldn't go with a real estate license. when the market was booming, lots of people did it, and now that the market is cooling, they are bailing because there is too much competition. there are lots of entry-level jobs out there, just look around and pick something that sounds remotely interesting. if nothing else, you'll meet people who have tried other things and have suggestions.

not sure what the laws are in your state but, in West Virginia all you have to do is order a book, study the book, take a test, pass the test and boom, you have your insurance licence. then all you have to do is find an agency to hire you. check the webpage for your states insurance commison and they will hook you up with all the info you need.
i personaly dont make commission on homeowners and auto policies, just life insurance policies. alot of agents do work on full comission though.
