Hello everyone,
So I want to head out to Sears after work and buy a timing light. I went on Sears.com and found 2 different models; inductive and inductive advance.

This was the only difference in the description:
"0-60 degree advance scale for more accurate and easy timing measure"

I do not mind spending the extra cash if it is worth it. I just want to make sure I purchase the right one. (S14 SR20DET)

Can you please tell me which one is better and why?

Wishing you all the best,
Carlos Doria

The advance scale is very helpfull, but the basic model will work.

I currently have the advance model, but am looking into one with digital advance and retard.

can someone explain what they do differently??? How does one make it easier than another?

thanks.

it artificially advances the timing. If your goal is, say 20* BTDC, you set the gun to 20* and adjust the dizzy till the pointer on the crank is at 0*. Usually the 0* is easier to see. Especially usefull when your goal is, say 23 or 17* where there is no line.
