im planning on getting apexi coilovers soon for my s14 and i am just wondering if there is any problem with coilovers clearing like 17x7 or 17x7.5 rims? and if so would i just need spacers?

Well the stock suspension IS a coilover setup, so the aftermarket coilovers shouldn't be much if any bigger.

At least that's the way the S13 is, and I'm pretty sure the S14 is the same way.

yea, but the spring setup is different in the front

my understanding is there is a potential clearance prob only at the rear, only if you run a wheel wider than 9in. the reason for clearance prob is that the threaded area of the full coilover stretches further down the shock body than the stock spring perch. std lowering springs u can run any width of wheel up to 10in. this is what my supplier of my wheels told me cuz i want a wider wheel in the back vs front.

My Work Wheels didnt clear my HKS Coilovers since I didnt mention I had coilovers. It was only off by like 2mm but it still pissed me off. So that is why I had bought the 5mm spacer.

You dont need to really worry with 17x7 and 7.5" wheels. Mine were 8" front and 9" rear.

If its a spring/shock combo then it wont have any problem clearing them.

It all depends on your offsets. If the wheels are a high FWD offset (+40 or greater) then you may have some issues with the inside of the wheel and tire rubbing the spring. If this is the case you will need to run spacers for the clearance.

cool. kind of what i thought. #### my 4 lug bolt pattern, hard to find those wide wheels without a 5 bolt lug pattern so i may have to settle with 7.5" width.

yeah i know, just felt like complaining. 5 lug conversion is already on my list of plans which should be called more like a wishlist.....
