I just dropped a lower mileage KAE into my '90 Coupe. I have had some problems leading up to the starting of it. First I bought the shell from a moron who partially wired the KAE Harness up for SR and never told me before he sold it. So I have had to replace the whole harness from ecu to engine bay to Fuse Box. Now, the problem. I have Spark, I have Fuel, but its not turning over? Harness is completely hooked up except lower radiator hose(where sensor is), the air box and all PS and Air Conditioning components. The Vacuum hoses arent hooked up as well. I am kinda under the gun to get it started because this is my grocery go getter :keke: so any help would be much appreciated. I can provide pictures to anyone if need be to help solve this problem. Thanks Again.

Make sure the MAF sensor, IACV and fuel pressure regulator hoses are connected. Might also want to check the timing. Are you getting any error codes?

Your car wont run without the vacume lines hooked up. Do you have the sohc ecu from a 90 car? Do you have the fuel hoses hooked up backwards, +1 on rechecking the timing.

Thanks. I am going to start with timing. I did most of the minor things already. Lines are setup right. Would a I need a ECU for a '89 since the engine is from a '89? The ECU I have is from a '90. Also, anyone happen to have a SOHC Vacuum Diagram? Thanks Again Guys.

You can get a downloadable version of the factory service manual(FSM) at www.zeroyon.com. Should find the vacuum diagram in there. In my opinion, the picture isn't very detailed but it should be enough.
As for the ECU, a 90 ECU should work. From what I understand, it shouldn't matter if it's an auto or manual ECU.

when u say that the motor doesn't turn over, do u mean that it cranks but won't start, or do u mean you turn the key and nothing happens?

Serris: Thanks for the link.
Asiangento: It cranks but wont start. I have power to everything else.

you need the vacuum lines routed to get it running, even if timing and everything else is ok. the number on your ecu should either be a 10 or an 11, either one should start your car.
1. straighten out all your vacuum lines, if not, just unplug your maf, and go to step 2
2. put new spark plugs in it.
3. make sure you have the spark plug wires routed correctly on the distributor cap going to the correct cylinder
4. bring the motor up to tdc, and take off the distributor cap. make sure the rotor button is aligned with the cylinder 1 spark plug wire electrode on the inside of the distributor cap.
5 reassemble and try to start it.
6 if still doesn't start, try holding the throttle 1/3 and try to start it.
7 report back with your updated test results
