It depends on the shop, the type of paint used, how much prep you perform yourself, etc. we need details to know if 3500 is a ripoff. for example.
I'm getting my the front end of my cefiro painted soon along with my sideskirts, cost will be 120,000 yen (about $1000)including my new bumper, removing some stickers from the previous owner painting 2 hoods (one FRP one stock, all prep work, and color matched paint. you just gotta look for deals, if you think its worth it (look at a few paintjobs the shop has done) then it probably is.

This particular shop would paint the whole car including the new body kit. They will do all the prep work also will paint the engine bay. They also will use glazurit paint. Have u heard of that paint. It's supposed to be really good.

I've never heard of it, but I'm not a real big paint person, due to being a drifter Newb that runs into shit a lot, the only reason I'm painting my car is because it's 3 different colors, and half of my front bumper is missing. 3500 doesnt sound too bad though, what color are you going with?

Single tone, or gray bottom/black top, is it going to be a regular paint or mettalic, all those things play in to it.

I found a guy locally that did mine, my paint was peeling BAD, i had some minor body damage, he filled my hood emblem holes, fixed the crack in my left front fender, filled my spolier holes, fabbed up my skirts to make them fit perfect and painted and installed them and did a show quality paint job all for $1100. Search for my name to see pictures. I got quoted around 2k+ prior to finding this guy so your best bet is to find someone like I did that does the work on the side, he took a month but it was WELL WORTH every day. :)

if your paying that much he better be painting under the hood and trunk as well as the door jams and wet sanding and buffing as well

yeah dude that sounds like a grip. I was talking to a guy local to me that was gonna spash me down some candy paint two-tone for 3500. That includes all bodywork of course and finished to a show shine. 1200 for the same in metallic instead of candy paint. I say keep getting estimates.

For pro shops, $3,500 is a good deal. I got mine done by an ex-pro by just giving him Enkeis. I supplied the paint and other stuff though....he's also fixing all my dent. Connections...connections.
