View Full Version : Keeping blowing tail lamp fuse (15A one)

Well, after I finished wiring up some new front side markers, it worked for the first 3 or so tries of switching on and off the lights. Now, on my fifth or so try, the taillights, front and rear side signals now dont work with the front headlights. The brakes lights, however, work flawlessly.
I traced the problem to the kick panel fuse box of the 15Amp tail light fuse (on the right column of the fuse box, the 3rd one up). It seems everytime I install a fuse there, it blows as soon as I turn the head lights on. Also, I realized that if I install a higher ampage fuse, it would take a few seconds longer to blow than the 15amp one. Now, I just bought the car and I need all these lights to make sure I pass inspection which is a few weeks away. So, if anyone has any ideas on what to look for or where to look, please, I need help!!

Also, the car currently does not have a radio installed so there are some wires in there dangling, but, I dont think it affects anything.

P.S sidemarkers are oem as the previous owner installed some decently stupid and illegal sidemarkers:mrmeph:

hope you got it fixed by now but in a friend Integra, a wire got pinched and exposed and was touching some other wires. Might wanna check that out. *a

You're overloading the wire. I hooked up some for lights to that line once. Worked for about 3 weeks then blew fuses left and right.

Those lights bulbs are probably drawing too much power. unplug them, replace the fuse. and see what happens.

thats happening to me too!

its weird... I dont have a radio either... and I keep blowing that same fuse!

there was really no reason either... it just... went out one day. dash lights too right?

I taped up all of the open wires from the radio, and the lights worked for approx. a night, and then went off during a redline shift.

let me know what you do

I used 20a and that didnt help.

I'm thinking it could be the boost gauge wiring? it taps into the light source fromt he back of the radio harness. if the radio is grounding out, then that could also short the lights in turn right?

Well, thanks for the help. I got it fixed. It seems the front right turn signal had the red and black wires in contact. Just separated, resolder and electric tap up and bam!! Good as new.

awesome! Im going to check that today when it stops raining. Ive had my turn signals out for a while (constant work with fmic).

That's the worst advice ever. The OE fuse is rated at 15A for a reason.
