i just got my sr20det rebuilt..because i blew a rod bearing..
internally i installed in new bearings, new piston and rings.

the car drives fine but it doesnt feel like it should its real slow...it boost and everything but when im boosting it feels like it take a really long time for me to start pulling.. it doesnt pull like a regular SR..i had my boost gauge in and it shows that its running at 7-8 lbs but it doesnt pull or put u back in your seat. i think its creating boost but i dont think its going to the right place to produce power.

also when i come to a stop or come to a turn and shift to a lower gear it seems to blow WHITE smoke every once and a while. am i burning oil that i shouldnt? or is my new piston rings sealing???

please help me and let me know what you think..

Did you break it in? Also white smoke...usually sign of coolant. What headgasket did you use. As far as the power, double check your mechanical and ignition timing.

i am breakin in the motor right now...and if i have white smoke does it mean im burning coolant ?? because may be my turbo has a leak or something.???

i will check my timing again.. but what is the difference between mechanical and ignition timing...??

all i did was set the first piston to TDC and then align the cam angle...so let me know ..thank you very much!!

thats what i was gonna say, ignition aka spark..... mechanical aka cam timing... i say check ur timing i bet its really off...

ok ill check my timing once again..

and plus i found oil on my spark plugs in my number 2 cylinder ?? could that be the smoke i see when the oil on there is getting burned??

Oil on spark plugs=bad...

who built your motor, and how much did you pay? Did you have the cylinder walls re-honed or re-bored?

Do a compression check, better yet leak down. Make sure everything is sealing. White billowing smoke is usually coolant, its either gonna come from HG, cracked block or blown turbo. hopefully its none of those...

yea im going to do leakdown...compression and check timing..

i had the block put together by a reputable shop...i had the cylinder walls bored out to .20 oversize with cp pistons and new piston rings...also did bearings because the reason i went into the block was because i blew bearings..

decking and cleaning the head, decking the block, honing, hot tanking, buying bearings and reassembling the whole thing was a total of $1200 bucks..i didnt think that was too bad....
