It sounds hideous after sitting overnight. It sounds like the oil isn't stickin to anything. What type of oil shoul I run thru it???...Right now I am running 10W-30 mobile 1 full synthetic...

Hey johnathan try a thinner oil like 5w 30 so it does not have to struggle so much to cut into the thicker oil.

first off is the oil pan bent at all? if so fix it now next try 5w 30 or 0w 30 (fist number = oil viscocity at room temp for that given type of oil and second number is oil viscocity at operating temp ) (oil actualy get thinner at as it heats but multi wait oil changes viscocity in a non liner rate (not as fast as a straight weight. (hope fully that under standable best way i could explain that so um first number being thinner is actualy better cause oil is too thick at start up any way. second if the sound is ticking try flushing your oil with motor flush a couple of time in a row so changing the oil every time this will usaly get rd of this

Racer X is right.....Everytime I got a motor from Japan I would run cheap oil for the first 100 miles then change it, then again for another 100 change it then finally run the oil I would normally use.

You never know how long the motor has been sittin and what kinda crap is in there....you want to flush the system.

I have changed my oil four times since my SR got in for the exact same reason that rotaryknight said. After like the third oil change I find that she runs a lot smoother since. Hey civic killa how's she running other than the noice.
BTW I saw his oil pan before he installed the engine and she looked good to me. I say just let her run her problem out and purge the engine of all that corroded and gunky oil.

What type of sound does it make? Is this only at start up? Does the engine sound normal after a minute?

i will change the oil a few times.....but now it seems as if I have a timing chain rattle...it only happens at 2-3000roms....if I put my ear on the engine i can hear it directly from where the timing chain is....does anyone have any ideas...

It may also be a new sound cus you have vvti i beleave.I could be wrong but i know alot of peps hear their chains rattleing in tha ka's due to having a chain guard or rail something i don't recall right now but it could be normal cus you have a sr now and not the ka.But then again i could be wrong.
