I have 96' maxima fans going in my s13 and I was just wondering if there would be a significant difference in the performance of my n/a ka24de with i/h/e.

Yes...if you still have the stock clutch fan and are removing it to install the e-fans.

It's not a huge increase, but noticable.

...

And a quick safetly note:

Be sure to wire them with separate relays, and use relays that are rated for enough amperage...the stock wiring can only handle one fan on low speed.

If the Maxima fans are like the Altima fans...there are 2 fans, each with 4 wires (high and low speed for each).

Ideally, you'd use 4 relays...but you can get away with 2 safely (both fans wired to high).

DO NOT try to use the stock single relay to run one of them on high...you'll burn it out.

Would it be safe if I just wired the 2 fans directly to a switch without doing the relay connection?

Oh, and which is the high speed wire, the light green or the yellow and do I just connect it to the blue power line?

if you want to burn up your switch go ahead... There's a reason you use relays, they can handle a high current load on one side (fans) but be controlled by a low current switch. Also if you forget to turn your switch on you're going to overheat. You could splice a wire into your ACC relay, which will trigger a relay thats connected straight to the battery (fused) and straight to the fan(s). That will turn the fan(s) on whenever the ignition is on.

Speaking of which there should be a link in my signature with a nice efan wiring schematic.

My "altima" fans seem to be a little different than all the other posts I've read, I used all wires except the blue. GL

2) Oh, and which is the high speed wire...

1) NO...use relays, they are the proper way to do it, and MUCH safer.

2) There are 2 sets of + and - wires...one set wired up to 12v, and you'll get low. Both sets wired, and you'll get high.

...at least with Altima fans...Maxima may be different...but it the plugs have 4 wires each...you can bet it's the same.

how did you all mount ur Maxima fans? The holes dont exactly line up with 240 components (as we all know trimming was needed to make it even fit in there). I have some ideas for brackets already but im j/w how you all did yours.

I'll have to fab up some brackets for the maxima fans but if the altima fans can bolt right up to a koyo radiator then I'll try and get it at the junkyard. Has anyone tried using altima fans on a koyo radiator and does it need extra brackets?

I have altima fans on my C&R rad. and only one of the bottom mounts lined up w/the stock location. On the tabs on the top I just used some zip ties and have had no prob.(You must trust in the power of the zip tie ;) ) These fans have solved all of my overheating prob. in the brutal S. Fla. sun and the only time my temp gets above 180 is with my a/c on high and as soon as I shut them off the temp settles down to about 165. Also do yourself a favor w/the wiring, and simply test the wires on your batt. before installing it. There seem to be several different wiring schematics for these and you don't want to do what I did and find out you did it wrong after you installed it cuz then you have to start all over again ( the schematic i used was supposed to have my fans on high but ended up putting them on low speed in reverse :hammer: ) . Also try using weather striping (like the one for window a/c units) around the fan to seal it better. Lastly do yourself a favor and hook it up to a relay. U can use the one for u'r starter like I did, and you'll have no prob...gl
