1 pc drive shaft

Is anyone here using a 1 pc alum or steel drive shaft on their s13? What extra parts (bolts, seals, etc..) would be needed for the install?

friend had one in his s13.. just remove stock shaft and put it in. NO extra parts etc. just removal of the center bearing piece that holds the stock one in place.

You don't put the carrier bearing back on for a 1 piece?

nope, dont need it. You can use it as a driveshaft catch with some modification, but its not nessicary.

Just get the aluminun. It is lighter than the steel and is just about as strong. I have the aluminum one and could not be happier, it feels more responsive, and I have no worries about it ever breaking.

1 piece driveshafts CAN cause some more vibrations in the car. FYI for you daily drivers :P

I daily on a steel one. Was talked out of the aluminum by the shop that built it. Basically aluminum is softer and easier damage in which case it can't be re-balanced like a steel one can thus it's cheaper to maintain. If I ever need to have the length changed it can be done, aluminum can't. Aluminum is lighter though if weight is an issue. Never drove on a car with an aluminum one so can't compare feel.
It does vibrates and shudders a bit but my clutch isn't helping any either. Very responsive which is great when speeding but you'll be slower in regular traffic. A bit of a pain in slow traffic and hills since it's a lot easier to stall; the revs drop very quickly. Takes a little getting used to it but I love mine.

friends' s13 stock ka with aluminum had crazy low end torque.. really fast

im running a 1 piece steel driveshaft. Works great and no vibration issues yet. I guess the guys that made it did a very good job at balancing the shaft. Also if your motor mount is not secured all the way down (as low as it can go) this may cause some vibrations.
