View Full Version : Rear over fender differences: All brands compared

So i ordered rear over fenders for my s14 from Auto RnD. I have yet to get them since the first set that arrived were damaged. Still trying to get another set sent to me, but its proving to be a dillemma
anyways, I see some that go all the way to the bottom of the rocker panel, and some that only go about half way- where a would be aftermarket sideskirt would meet up with it-thats the only sense i could make out of that
I looked each website and saw that V:S AND Origin had the ones that go all the way down to the rocker but the ones I recieved only went down half way.
Josh at Auto RnD told me that they are all the same, the 30mm and 50mm ones.
The ones I recieved were GRAY in color. I thought all V:S and Origin pieces were WHITE..????
I have reason to believe otherwise, not only because I've had 50mm ones on my S13, but the NUMEROUS pictures I've seen on everyone elses cars of seeing the differences in flare and small design cues.
So why are they different/same dependign on how you look at it? advertising 30mm as 50mm? save money?
I'm just having a hard time thinking that I can make the 30mm fenders bow out as far as I want to without putting too much stress on the actual fender.
I'd feel more comfortable making a 50mm fender bow out 30mm rather than a 30mm fender bow out 50mm...
I also like the design of the ones that go all the way to the bottom of the rocker. I think it looks cleaner that way.
I guess I'm just babbling, anyone wanna spread some insight on this?
much appreciated :p

50mm fenders dont exist unless you get like BN or somthing, all the overs are moulds of eachother, the change in width is dependant on how you mount it
also the color is probably no big deal, prob just sprayed a different color gel coat on that batch
30mm overs will fit your wheels, i promise

cant edit my posts from pinking
also regarding the amount of overfender that extends down, its generally best to cut the part covered by the sideskirt off anyway, it makes the sideskirt stick out and not fit as well. and overfenders look whack on cars with no aero anyway sooo yeah. haha

30mm fenders do not go all the way down. 50mm fenders do.
The gray white thing, I forget the reasons, but IIRC v:S uses gray for all thier stuff. Origin uses white for everything but fenders now.

30mm ait ones go all the way down
i have them
but most dont go all the way down
it was the reason i went w/ AIT..and the fact it was chepa and didntrequire shipping.

just don't use ait front fenders, THEY FUCKING SUCK!!!
and for the color reference, friends s13 origin front fenders were grey. and before you spray any of this stuff block the hell out of it, there's like 10,000,000,000 waves in origin stuff, its whack.

Wack is B Magic's -10mm front fenders.
"Uhh, yeah, they don't work when your car is low. You need to rock truck gap and crap fitment to get them to work right. If you need an example look at a Formula D car."

I was going back and forth over this also Siizzooo, wheel flushness, mounting them w/o making my hatch look like a dedicated drag car (i.e. all rivited up). I'm personally going with all origin stuff, but still havent convinced myself to stick with the 50mms.:(

it's a joke, he's talking about my fenders. i have the ait b*magic fronts and they fit/line up really well. however, they added like 5-8mmm TOPS. advertised as what, +30s? advertised as biggest on the market, instead, nothing but pieces of fucking shit. i contacted b*magic through redshift, through b*magic email and have tried phonecalls as well only to be left with an answering machine. the head loser at b*magic told ian that my cars too low for them to do anything about it. SINCE WHEN DID VERTICAL RIDE HEIGHT AFFECT BACK SPACING, WHEEL WIDTH AND LAME FENDER WIDTH?!?!?! it would make my day to see zilvia boycott shit b*magic products for good.

Roll um
B-magic's front fenders are pretty good, I've had 4 sets. (2 S13 Silvia, 1 180SX, 1 prototype S13.4), and all of them have lined up perfectly with the exception of one of the silvia fenders which was slightly warped. 7 out of 8 fitting perfectly is a pretty good track record in my book.
They all really added 30mm of width, except the S13.4 which seemed to add 35-40 mm. I don't have any experiance with the S14 fenders.
The S13 rears come down alll the way to cover the trim line that goes around the car, but I would trim them (like on my hatch) to make it easier to fit the rear bumper.

ok then lets talk numbers, 17x9 -1 w/ 225/45/17 still rubs like ever-living hell on my fenders with ~-2.5-2.75 camber. does that SOUND 30mm wider to you?

wow, you should be able to fit that on a stock fender with a roll and a little more camber. How thick is that inside lip on the FRP fender? Sounds like it needs to be cut out anyway, but in any case, it sounds whack. I've heard the S14 fenders might be 20mm.

I gotta agree with B-magic being weak on the wideness. I got mine and it's about same as stock. I put my ait fenders on and it was pretty darn close.

ok, just to recap
origin/v:s are all 30mm and all only go down halfway: best quality of the bunch
b-magic/ait go all the way down, offer both 30 and 50mm: qaulity is meh
well, it still hasn't changed my mind, I'm still gonna rock the ones i bought, just wanted to clarify
thanks all
keep the responses coming though

V:S (which i assume to be nearly the same if not identical to origin) go pretty far down, i trimmed mine so that the sideskirts wouldnt overlap.

I just going to assume you weren't directing that towards me. I was just checking because I honestly didn't know, but I knew I had seen them listed. That's the only thing I've seen listed on their sites for an S14 as a matter of fact (no 30mm).

yeah man thats the whole point, if you want them to go wider, just bend the fiberglass around. they are very flexible. i have the version select "30mm" overfenders and am using them to fit 12j -20. which is what like 5 inches further out from the car than stock? more than 50mm deffinitley

So what does everyone think about just getting the 30mm fenders to compliment the 20mm fronts for my S13? Or wold I just better off with the 50mms?

You didn't know 1" = 25.4mm by heart? heh
No need for silly Yahoo measurement convertor (didn't even know one existed?).
Anywho, your car's looking hot. Can't wait to see the finished product :D
As for the S13 guy, have you driven your car with a much bigger wheel, or at least where the offset is a lot lower than your front wheels? The stagger is cool and all, but if you aren't going to like the feel of your car with bigger wheels in the back, then you are better off with a 20mm fender in the back to even it out with the front.
Last time I had something like that, it was like, stock S13 SE wheels up front with 195/60/15 tires, and a set of 15x7 0 offset meshies in the back with 205/50/15 tires, and the car had more body roll, despite having a little more grip in the rear. Turn in was also not as sharp. If that setup was that horrible on 15" wheels in that narrow of tires, I can't imagine how bad it might be when you step that up to like 17" or 18" wheels and wider tires.

Ok well then I amy wind up going with a 30mm then, not quite sure a 20mm is available. :D
