Question for everyone:

I recently swapped a DOHC into a 90 hatch (running a auto ECU), while the engine was out I replace the motor mounts with SyKo Garage ones that drift freak sells and the tranny mount with a 'street' mount from peak performance. I also stitch welded the engine bay area (strut towers, etc). When I first started to drive the car it felt really loud and aggressive, I found out that the brake lines were vibrating against the fire wall, so I stuffed some foam between there (if anyone has a better more permanent fix, let me know) anyway, this helped with a lot of the noise vibration, and the car felt much better.

Any how my question is, the car still has a very aggressive vibration that seems to be coming from behind the dash (maybe somewhere between the dash and fire wall) once the car reaches about 5500 RPMs and above.. anyway, this is very disconcerting, I don't think any major damage is happening but it definitely limits the power band that I feel comfortable using (especially while holding at or above this RPM for a while in a turn... I tend to get scared and back off/shift). Just thought I would see if anyone had any ideas on what it could be?

Thanks for all the help,

It sounds to me like this is the vibration from your new stiffer mounts and the stich welding, the stiffer you go the more vibration goes through the car, like solid sub frame bushings will causr more vibration with a stiffer ride. As far as the break lines rubbing, get some rubber hose to put arround the lines to keep them from rubbing, but I think you are stuck with the vibration.
