Yeah... You should just be able to plug the pipe up and plug the hole up, and you shouldn't throw a code. If everything is plugged, the ECU will think that everything is doing its job, and not set off the light. Also, you shouldn't have a change in driveablility either. It just sucks some exhaust and reburns it. But... mine's on for now, so I can't tell you from experience.

The EGR system plays a role in keeping your engine temperature down.....
I had a bad EGR valve and it ended up contributing to a blown head gasket. I'd keep it on if I were you.

well it is leaking like crazy now, my car sounds like someone punched a hole through the muffler. and i can't really seal it cuz of the bad threads......?<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='???'>??? well you think i could just weld inplace of a gasket???

You could either
a) Tap into the EGR fitting on the exhaust and re-thread it a size larger, and then run the fitting through a dye.
or
b) Seal up that hole and make a new hole in the exhaust, and weld a new fitting in there.
or
c) Go to FreshAlloy and search for EGR removal. And everyone with a CUSTOM turbo setup has removed their EGR and not seen anything bad, or any codes.
