Me and a friend got into an arguement over which platform is ideal for track performance. He says r32 pwns the r33. Just want to know your guy's input on this. thanks

r32, they are better for tracking, believe it or not. the r33 is heavier. ive seen it first hand a stock r32 nad r33 together (two guys i work with have one) and the r32 is faster IMO....but the 33 is nicer interior wise

either way its just a 7000 dollar car....who cares

FYI:
here are his claims (SilviaSR20DET), which apparently he couldn't back up.... I told him to post.

anthony says:
r33 raced in jgtc
anthony says:
i dont think r32 ever made it

anthony says:
haha!
anthony says:
the r33 is pretty much made to take on the toyota supra
anthony says:
cause of the years they started and endedin production

anthony says:
performance wise
anthony says:
it has a much more related handling charactisitic as the r34

anthony says:
well all the best motoring, option, videos
anthony says:
always use the r33 platform

anthony says:
r33 is way more sold then r32
anthony says:
of course everyons gonna hate on r33 cause they cant afford it

anthony says:
well the r33 is considered GT500 in jgtc
anthony says:
the r32 isnt
anthony says:
pwned!
ME says:
its class1
anthony says:
which is under class
anthony says:
booiii
anthony says:
HAHA!
anthony says:
GT500 cars are the fastest ones
anthony says:
same motor right?
anthony says:
HEHE
anthony says:
i win!

anthony says:
its lap times
anthony says:
r33 recorded beter lap times and thus
anthony says:
made it
anthony says:
into gt500

anthony says:
and please dont tell me the r34
anthony says:
is owned by r32
anthony says:
its freakin the same as the r33
anthony says:
you dork
anthony says:
its got the same damn chassis
anthony says:
design
anthony says:
look at its body
anthony says:
how close it resembles
Thats his arguement.

then what do you say about the r34? its heavy also.... i believe the r33 is closest to the R34 in terms of chassis. The R34 itself is a track monster for one thing.

yokotas13
05-31-2006, 03:40 AM
no a stripped r34 is a track monster, ive seen a stock one on a ghymikana (autocross) and its not that impressive.

either way, its still a skyline. and everyone has their opinoins on what is better. I have a R32 GTST and i hate it....so its my wifes. I dotn really like any skylines.....i think they are overhyped Pieces of fat shit, just liek a 300zx

yokotas13

also doesnt GT500 class have somethign to with the car size also?

the R32 is a 500 plate becuase it is smaller than a r33 which is a 300 plate, that might be why it never made i it in...but i could be wrong

I'm pretty sure the GT 300/500 has nothing to do with their plates, but has more to do with what kind of power they put out. If plates were the factor, then why would a Supra (300 plate) be in both GT 300/500 classes.

i dont know thats why i was asking.
i dont really keep up with it

I've driven both R32 and 33s, to me there wasn't a MAJOR significant difference in both cars. Its true though, that the 33s were the most heaviest and most of my Japanese friends do agree that the 33 was the worse GTR. In fact, many of the GTR paraphanila(sp?) that you can get in Japan mainly covers 32s, 34s and sometimes hakosukas. For some reason the 33s were left out, they just didn't sell so well I guess.
I dunno why Yokota hates Skylines so much, if you really think GTRs are "overhyped Pieces of fat shit" you have much to learn.

I got into a big discussion a long time ago on another forum and most of the poeple from Japan said that they prefered the R32.

I believe the R32 is the most aerodynamic of the two

s14slide

I've driven all three, and the 33 just feels like a well handling refrigerator. The R32 with mild tuning can be really mean, but an R33 with the same doesn't seem to give the same "fun factor."

Uhmmm yeah...pointless thread?

300/500 has to do with the engine size...iirc.

R33 is nicer to look at, but R32 is better track platform. Or so I was told many times.

OptionZero

GT300/500 is HP limitations.

There are separate rules for engine size i think.

Supras run n/a V8s
350Z/Skylines run VQ35DETT IIRC
nsxs run 3.5L n/a

also...was the JGTC even around when the R32 was out?

R32 was...early early 1990's ..maybe 1989?

oh yeah the r32 was banned from racing in australia cuz it was too good i think

r32 looks better

this thread is pointless. it's a matter of personal preference. stock vs. stock lap times? the r32 probably has an advantage due to the weight, and I believe the r33 has softer suspension. r33 looks way better, though. and you can't use jgtc cars to compare street cars, they are built to exploit the rules to the fullest extent. supras ran 4 cylinders, and late r34's used turbo VQ's, how can you really use the race cars to compare the street versions?

SilviaSR20DET
05-31-2006, 11:59 AM
Well the main reason why i believe the r33 is a better track platform because it made it to GT500 and was intended to compete against the nsx, supra, rx7.You guys say weight but what about a stripped tracked out r33.

TurDz
05-31-2006, 01:30 PM
It's probably exactly like comparing the S13 to the S14...

the later model has some rigidity improvments, but adds weight...

OptionZero
05-31-2006, 01:47 PM
if the r33 is stripped out for the race...why can't the r32 be stripped out?

will rigidity even matter? in a race trim car, you'll have a cage and tons of bracing

the differences are probably minute to most people, and more to the point, i doubt either of the kids in the argument will ever drive them in an environment where the differences matter

It is mostly preference. Personally I prefer the looks of the R32 over the R33 but apparently that's just me.

I don't know for certain but I would assume the R32 is considerably cheaper than an R33 and that gives you more money to spend on mods. A moderately modded R32 will definately be faster than a stock R33.

i think in stock form, R32 never made it under 8:00 in nurburgring. but the stock R33 did. and of cuz R33 has newer technology then the R32. i mean the car mite look fat and heavy but it is not much heavier than a r32. cuz i think ppl go more to the r32 side because they think the 33 are ugly. just my 2 cent

My FD i had was a 13b, so it was like a what 1.3 litre, and it was a 300 plate...my sr20 180 is a 500 plate? i never understood it

I thought JGTC classification was pretty damn simple.

GT300: >300whp. GT500: >500whp. Regardless of engine size

Someone local here has an r32 GTR and it is not impressive. Most of you are just on the GTR's nut =P

The Saurus BNR32 driven by Orido/Taniguchi was the champ at the Option Time Attack. It is faster than all other EVO's, R34's, Silvia's, Micros whatever. It was built as a full on drag car and converted over to Time Attack Spec. Street Legal Too!

Based on this vehicle I would say the pinnacle of tuned GT-R's still belongs to the R32. The Mine's GT-R can't even keep up with this sucker. Stock vs. Stock I don't know for shit.
