hey guys, i'm running a v-mounted s14 sr20det w/ the stock t28 and i'm in need of some fuel management. i've done a little research and i think i've narrowed it down to either the apex power fc, or the greddy e-manage ultimate...maybe even an apex afc2. now i'm a little reluctant to spend the money on a PFC, as i may be selling my car soon. just wondering what your experiences have been with either or all of them, thanks.

out of those 3 the greddy e-manage ultimate

what do you need the fuel management for? are you upgrading the t28 you have right now? the choices you list depends on your setup, and if you're not upgrading anything else, powerfc is overkill. if anything, you'll just want to get the afc and thats it.

the s-afc is for lower power cars and can only adj a/f, while the e-manage and power fc can adj almost everything (both still piggyback thow), but the emanage is map while the power fc needs a stupid amount of money to upgrade it to map.And the greddy is cheaper. The only down side to the greddy is you need a laptop, but i already have one, so im good to go.

for now the AFC would be fine...you don't really even mention anything that would require the use of an afc on that post (no uprated injectors or anything) what are you planning on doing to the car why do you feel you need fuel management upgrades currently?

DD i wouldnt go MAP and to clarify on your post, powerfc is standalone (im sure that was a typo)

Enthalpy rom tune $500. Usually spot on. If you have an safc you can fine tune it. With an s15 turbo (similar to s14 t28) 550cc's and a z32 mafs they put down 300 320whp all day long.

enthalpy is a good alternative.
whered you read 320whp all day long? you aint gonna get there on s15 t28, injectors and maf alone, not to mention the level of boost you'll be runnin. you'll need cams in the range of a minimum of 264s to achieve that level.
without the cams and depending on boost level you'll reach anywhere from 260-280 respectively.

i was wondering if you guys would recommend the profec e01?

wouldnt recommend e01. standalone i'd only go with powerfc or fcon.

DD i wouldnt go MAP
Why not?

from past experiences going the map route tends to be less stable than retaining mafs. im referring to dd. high hp goals go with map.

How is it less stable? Can you please clarify?

ran djetro and the idle was somewhat weird; would fluctuate at times. im running the regular powerfc and its working well (except for a problem im having right now, but that has nothing to do with this).

^really, map is saposed to be more accurate, hense for high hp cars

It all depends on how much power you want. I tuned an S13 last week to 368whp with afc. He had a larger turbo though. If you are nearing 400+whp range, you should go with a standalone. BTW, the power fc is not a piggyback. Emanage is a piggyback.

I would recommend the whole package Profec E-01 + Emanage. Its awesome combo saved my ass many times being able to make changes to ANY setting at ANY time. Easy graphical interface + data logging in the E-01. I run my wideband into the E-01 and it logs that too and then make changes, but I usually use the laptop to do the calculations, much faster. Profec-E01 with upgraded firm does boost based on speed. Basically 0-15kmh I boost at 7, 15-40kmh I boost at my low boost setting (10psi) and at 40+ kmh I boost at 13.7. Its like almost traction control with hi-hp applications. I noticed much more stable cornering because of this and no surge annoying surge during mid corners.
I run 600c injectors on it and it works just fine, I mean what else do you want, if D1 drivers use this. I would prefer the powerFC d-jetro, but eh, that is a LOT of money. I would safely say 500+ HP go standalone, but anything under that is pretty mild tune and both emanage's have inputs for MAP sensors. Secondly, no, MAFS sensors are very stable because it converts airflow to voltage and idles rock solid. You would use airflow voltage in and RPM's to tune fuel injectors. SH!T on most forums you can get an emanage blue for under 200 dollars (used of course, but just as good.)
The emanage ULT is good because you can tune 2 MAFS or MAPs, tune individual cylinder injectors AND individual timing on individual injectors. Soon to be able to raise RPM as well but not supported at this point. The emanage ULT DOES NOT connect to E-01 right now, big downfall in my book. There has been some bugs in it as well which does voltage calculation for larger injectors in correctly, but there are so many ways around this.
But in any case your decision should definitely not be based on whether PowerFC vs SAFC vs Emanage. Your decision should definitely be based on who can tune it in your area. That is the smartest thing. If you buy an FCON V and you can't tune it, what tow it to XS Engineering in LA to tune it? Cost you an arm and a leg. So figure out in your area who has the tuning experience to support you that is what your decision should be based on.

True that. This is a good thread cause I was thinking about the same thing recently, but not at the point of buying yet. Just thinking ahead. I guess the best point is finding and talking to tuners in the area. Anyone got any great tuners in DFW, TX area?

Texas has some awesome tuners man.... Titan Motorsports does tuning I think. They are mainly very high power supras, but I think they will tune just about any cars. There is so many tuners out in Texas man... I wish I was there, come on open roads too hahahahah downfall is the buck20 heat you get though :(

yeah, the heat blows. I am sure there are plenty or tuners, just leary of anyone who might hurt my pride and joy. I need reputable and I have heard of a guy named Tony, but not sure who he is or where he stays...he is kinda like batman to me...but I ain't got no damn signal light....

Interesting about the MAP. You probably had a leak somewhere if you were fluctuating.
MAF sucks 'cuz of the turbulence problem and issues with open ATM BOV (unless you have a blowthrough set-up)
I DD my shit and from what I understood, MAP was the more "pain-free" way to go. (except for the need for a re-tune whenever components are changed)

Yah map is the way to go, but you still mafs, for reference values or car ain't goign to start lol....
