well there i am crusing at 55mph minding my own business and i hear heavy accleration on the side of me. its a early model probe.....so i wait till she gets about even with me and i downshift. i pulled a half car lenth on her and she couldnt make up the gap....i let off at 75mph and coasted back to 55 to stay safe.
then my friend pulls up next to me at a light in his 95 Elicpse Rs. the greenlight poped and i steadily pulled hard from him off the line. he gave up. later were crusing side by side at 50 when he guns it to 75 and leaves me behind.
pretty cool stuff. all that with 2 leaky injectors and 2 exhuast leaks. i was surpised. i love my s13.

just curious, how much HP do u think u are losing from having 2 leaky injectors and 2 exhaust leaks?
BTW: nice kills, I think one of our arch enemies can be considered probe(cause stupid like to confuse 240sx for probe)

well.. 55-75 isn't exactly much of a race.. run'em to about 110.. The first gen probe gt will do 120mph fairly easy.
and an rs eclipse? thats a decent kill. less HP but if you fucked up he probably could've had you.

HP loss? i dont know what do u think? i know it seems a little more slugish in higer gears.
the 95 RS has the same HP 140. were gonna go again when i get my stuff fixed.
i would run up to 100 but dont want to get too crazy on the road.

RS's are amazingly slow. I remember racing one on the 91 West and he started from 75ish and ended at about about 140 give or take 2 miles (not like he hit that speed) It was a joke. He wouldn't give up so Id ride the brakes while I passed him to show him how slow his car was. *sigh* good memories running top speed with the 240.

I didn't look at your sig.. thought you had a DE.. was the probe a GT? if it was it should've walked you.
A new rx7 pulled up on me last night. It came up really fast and got beside me and matched my speed (~60). I just slowed down. He then sped off darting in and out of traffic.
I don't get it? Why do people get such a thrill out of dicking around in traffic and trying to race? I have absolutely no respect for any member on these forums who participates in street racing of this type.

....whatever.. I think thats a pretty lame reason to loose respect for somebody. You guys take that shit WAY too serious. You know people who speed are less likely to get in an accident than people who don't. As long as you use good judgment as to the conditions, and situation then all is good. If nobody's around, and your only risking yourself and your car, then it's your decision whether or not to do stupid shit. It's no different than bungee jumping, or skydiving, or any other thing people do for adrenaline rushs..
I say just BE CAREFUL, and don't take shit so seriously. Good judgment and MODERATION are the keys.

Hrmf, that was lame. If you like autox so much, that doesn't mean that its the only place you can race. Hey, noone is bashing autox, so please don't bash street racing. I mean this is a childish point to argue about. Like music. Everyone likes their shit and won't admit that something else is better. Time to grow up though. If someone likes to street race leave them alone. The fact that they like to go fast from time to time doesn't mean there are in any way worse then you. Look at me for example. My shifting patterns for daily driving are 1-2 2000rpm 2-3 2100rpm 3-4 2300 rpm and 4-5 2500rpm. But when i go out at night, i race like shit on the empty roads with no traffic (if no people are in the car). I don't see anything wrong with beating some shit out of an eclipse rs or celica gt from time to time.
"You know people who speed are less likely to get in an accident than people who don't."
Please give me proof
Kreator, I don't race in any form. I hope to auto-x and road race starting this season. But untill then I won't get my kicks out of street racing.
But your point isn't really valid at all. Nobody is bashing auto-x because it is about as safe as you can get, everybody understands the risks and signs a waver, and its legal.
"Time to grow up though." Though you may have been talking about my dislike of street racing, I don't see many grownup's street racing. However there are a lot of old guys running the circuit and auto-x. So tell me who needs to grow up?
I'm starting to feel out of place here...

And you consider yerself one of those "old guys running the circuit and auto-x"?
Tell me what's so unsafe about running from 0-80mph on an empty 4 lane road? I don't see anything wrong with it.
So you never tried autox, but you are already bashing street racing. Have you ever tried racing somebody from a red light?
"everybody understands the risks and signs a waver, and its legal"... and how does a waver protect you from an injury? And hey, putting sr20det engine in is illegal as well...
And going back to older people doing autox... well if you want to get there asap, feel free. But i'm 95% sure, that those people street raced in their teens.

Most definately not. I would be N/A since I don't race at all.
We could keep typeing back and forth but it wouldn't prove anything. You are pro-street racing and I am anti-street racing...Nothing either one of us type here will change that so I'm just going to stop now before other people jump in and it turns into a big flame war.

People who speed generally pay more attention than those that don't. They are very alert b/c they are paranoid of cops, and are more aware of there surroundings. When your just flowing with traffic, it's easier to get side tracked and not see whats going on. like the people with their cellphones, etc..
Kreator - Do not bash Dave for his views and opinions. everyone has a right to see things their own way. It really is about PERSONAL JUDGMENT of your OWN actions.
Advising a fellow Zilvia member that street racing is hazardous to their health (and check book), and possibly others if done unwisely is GOOD.. Calling names in ANY fashion is completely un-called for. period.
edit - not saying anyone was calling names in this instance.. just venting.
edit2 - the reason I say generally is b/c there are plenty of people who just dont judge what a safe speed is or overesitmate it. Also there are people that take no regard for the other people on the road and estimate only Thier risk involved. These are the people that most often cause the speed related accidents.. Speed does kill.. but if you use your judgment you can often speed somewhat safely.. I'm in no way condoning speeding. Just saying that there are ways to do it in a manner that is more safe than others.

Ok I wasn't bashing anyone, i was just pissed at the "no respect for street racers" comment. As i said, i understand and respect everyones views, but when someone goes ahead and throws their opinion out (especially when it's a negative one) i kinda argue that. No hard feelings dave
dave, i'm not a pro-street i hate people swerving in traffic myself, but as i said, night racing on empty streets is ok with me
sykik, i wasn't trying to bash dave. was just trying to figure out hows street racing is so damn dangerous and bad that dave could lose repect for everyone on this forum who street races

understood.. that's really were I'm comming from too.
"I don't get it? Why do people get such a thrill out of dicking around in traffic and trying to race? I have absolutely no respect for any member on these forums who participates in street racing of this type."
I feel I didn't make myself clear. I will not street race in any form but the type I am totally against enough to make me lose respect for anyone who does it is the "highway battles".
4am, nobody on the road...theres not much risk, we agree on this one. But when there are other cars on the road you risk their safty and thats what pisses me off. I don't much care about the legality as I do that safty. When I get in my car to come home from wherever at 4am, I don't want to come around a corner to meet a street racer head on. Or the person who see's you comming up and changes lanes to get out of the way as your changeing lanes to pass them doing 100+mph and you hit them.
If you race at all you accept the risks involved. Thats cool. On a track you and everybody involved knows the risks and accepts them (signing a waver) even if the risks aren't less they are known and accepted.
On a public road, you can still accept the risk in the same way but the other people on the road that you may hit don't.
Whats the worse senario?
Dave gets in his 240 at a track day, instructor rides shotgun. Dave fucks up or brakes fail...they hit a wall and are both killed.
OR
Dave hops in his tiite 240sx with his GF and goes out to a party. A kickass rx7 pulls up, they honk 3 times and are off...racing 60>70>100mph. They come up on an entrance ramp and the driver enters infront of dave. he can't stop in time and hits them. Dave and his GF are killed along with the women driving her van and the baby on board.
Now neither one of these is likely but this is how I see it.
You see a civic or something at a light. Revv at it and you two race up to 60 or so...not a big deal, just hope nobody ran the red light or you'll get T-boned.
Industrial park. 0-100 race, "offical" person in the middle starts the race and you are off. Nobody around, its 4am...pretty safe. Just don't lose control and go into the crowd if there is one. IMO, this the the safest form of street racing...deserted road early morning/late night. You pretty much only risk yourself.
This is my view of street racing and the risks involved.

While here we can talk about the SR20 vs the KA-T.. or shit, how about what are better Import or Domestics? Shit I got real time on my hands... how about; Is there a God?
I love these threads, watching people so vehemently defend what they feel is right, back tracking to prove themselves and qouting their "opponent" to disprove him or catch him in his own shit. Wow... it really is thrilling.
Any chance we are going to accept this one fact. No matter how many facts or statistics you post, you have absoloutely NO, nada, none, zlich, control over what they are going to do. My theory, explain your opinion if someone doesnt like it... well that their deal. I have enough problems running my own life let alone someone else's.

It's nice that the posting was mostly me, chimp, and kreator...It didn't get ugly at all. Not a single name calling...just a discussion of two points of view, and me trying to better explain my original post.

And I feel now is a good opportunity to correct myself even further...I have no respect for people who jeopardize the safety of others in an attempt to have fun...regardless of what your doing. Fuck you!
No im j/p. I did notice how it was handled, but it seemed to me that the convo was on the verge of detonation. But it was handled rather well by all parties. What I thought was the most amusing was this started from a Probe and an Eclipse... and turned into what it did.
I love this board, my last boards was almost all Canadian or Californian.... great people, but VERY defensive of EVERYTHING.
