Where do we register, and how?

Is this event being created by the owners of Altamont?

Kinda big gap between sessions... NCDA was better.

fuck altamont.... they only canceled our events so they can create their own and make bank.

Of course, the battle was never about ethics and pleasing the community, it was about money, and Drift Unit could pay up.

Guys, I am hosting these events. Altamont has no part in this... I'm serious. My partner and I are working very hard to make this happen. If you would like details from us just email us and we'll do our best to answer all/any questions. Registration opens June 1st for the July 6th event.

As for price of the event... this is the minimun we could charge due to the track rental fee. Hopefull everyone can make it. We won't break even unless we get 40 drivers @ $125(I'm serious). Even then we're in the red for staff supplies etc. Open practice at Altamont is $150 IF there is a Saturday available. But if you look at their schedule all Saturdays are taken by road race progams and events (private). The last open practice from what I was told was last saturday 5/27.

I hope to see everyone there to support US... we're not Altamont, we're the same guys that were dying for drifting in norcal and had our hearts broken on 5/18!!! We made this happen for everyone because we want drifting to go on up here til whenever...

FYI... this is NOT a DriftUnit event. This is an event that myself and a partner are hosting. We would appreciate all of our support!!! Please check the website for additional information.

Thanks!

Just to re-iterate, this is not an Altamont event. This is being hosted by me. Please come out and support.

Yes, NCDA was better because it was less pricewise and more often. But that was when Altamont was managed by different ownership. Since last season there have been a ton of changes at Altamont, not to mention an awesome new infield/paving... these upgrades make cost go up.

I would like to ask everyone to please not be so bitter about the opportunity to drift again at Altamont. They want drifting there and are very supportive. They were however discouraged by the negativity they saw online from local drivers... and this as all of you know won't help us to be able to host events there anymore.

fuck altamont.... they only canceled our events so they can create their own and make bank.

This is not the case. Altamont's new approach I believe from talking with their operations team is that with every event have at the facility they are partnering with that organization to cater to it's members. In this case they are partnering with us "Drift Battle :: AVID Industries, LLC".

I'm sure that if NCDA did want to host another event there, they could do it. It may not cost the same due to the renovation and changes in rental policy... if they wanted to break even it would cost what our event is costing.

We are cool with the NCDA guys and have even asked NCDA Don for advice/help.

Please stay as positive as possible guys... we all want drifting to stay right?

More like discouraged by the lack of money they were receivingERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR I mean, reckless drivers! Yeah!

Anyway, its all quite irrelevant now, so we might as well just go and drive.

Where do we sign up?

What the hell are you guys complaining about? Like our motto down south "JUST DRIFT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Jay, nice job bringing it back up there. I hope we can somehow keep the California Norcal vs Socal battle going.

You guys are complaining that you have to pay twice the fee at $125? AHAHAHAHA weeaaaaaaaak. Who cares if altamont wanted more money. You guys had it easy for a long time. Hardcore norcal people like xander drive all the way down to compete in socal events. I'm sure he'll be happy to have altamont back. All the norcal diehards don't give a shit about an extra $60 per event because events cost people in socal $300-500 in costs depending on power levels and tire sizes. An extra $60 is a drop in the bucket compared to the ultimate cost.

JUST DRIFT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We're hoping some of you guys can come up and run our oval/infield... if you could make it out to at least the 8/26 event that would be awesome! Tell everyone... we've already talked to Charlie so we hope everything can work out.

Don't worry, NCDA reps has been talking with altamont/Mr. shepard and so far it looks promising.

That's good to know.

But again to clarify... Drift Battle :: AVID Industries, LLC is not accociated with NCDA or Altamont. We just know how bad everyone up here wants/needs to go drifting... because we do too!!! So we'd really appreciate it if everyone could come out and support the event.

We are still finalizing the event details for July 6th... but the tentative schedule will be gates open at 2pm and drifting stops at 8pm. I know I know Night Drift was better... but this is the best we can do for now guys. I'm sure after we prove ourselves worthy we'll get more consideration. I hope this works for everyone.

The event details will be up this week... and we are indeed looking for volunteers to staff the event, but we would much rather have drivers register to drive!!!

The August event with comp will be on a Saturday so the hours will be adjusted for that.

Hope this helps,

Jay

If you can swing the $125 (I know it's not $60) please register!!! Like I said we need every driver we can get to just break even on cost this first time around. Regardless, an event will happen!... even if I'm in the hole... :bite:

So please spread the word... becuase we have confirmation from Altamont that we have the date(s) and the events will in fact go on!

How would you know what NCDA's pricing would be if there is an NCDA event at Altamont?

CleanS14
05-30-2006, 04:59 PM
How would you know what NCDA's pricing would be if there is an NCDA event at Altamont?

I don't... I'm just basing the estimate off of the pricing schedule/info that Altamont provided us... and us operating without sponsors contributing cash etc. I should mention they said that this would apply to all event host orgs. Sorry for the confusion... NCDA's events may be less if they can get a better rate. I tried and could not.

I don't know why some people are making this a NCDA issue thread. I'm asking everyone to be positive about this, nobody is talking down NCDA or anyone for that matter... we are trying to host a drift event and would like all of you to participate if possible.

If you all feel that you would like us to just cancel the event... let me know now and I will because it's not like I want to lose the THOUSANDS of dollars I am investing to make this happen for everyone.

Like I said before I'm doing this because I want drifting to stay alive in Norcal... fuck all the politics and BS... just come out and drift with everyone!!! :bigok:

How would you know what NCDA's pricing would be if there is an NCDA event at Altamont?

Because they announced it numerous times.. saying that it will go up from $50 to $60 since the track was recently renovated.

CleanS14

Because they announced it numerous times.. saying that it will go up from $50 to $60 since the track was recently renovated.

IIRC, that was with the old management... I think the pricing changed a whole lot since then. If I could I'd host the event for $60... I would have for sure!!! I thought that's what I'd be getting into... just wait until Altamont posts the pricing information on their site and you'll see the standard pricing. They said it should be up within a week or two.

What I was told was becuase of the $1 million+ investment to reovate the facility, the rental pricing went up drastically. Made sense to me. If anyone has been out there recently it's awesome now!

It should be clear to EVERYONE now that this was never about reckless driving or such stupid shit... just politics and money.

You're only half right. (and kazuo, this post isn't direct at you, but everyone who thinks it's about the money and that Altamont management is "evil")

It is about the reckless driving. Why? Because if some local people complain, you think the local government is gonna be happy if the locals complain. When there are voters who are pissed, you better believe some dumb local politician is gonna listen because he/she wants their votes.

For anybody who think it's about the money. You're better believe it's about the money. But you're naive to think it's about wanting more money from NCDA or any other group for the track rental, or trying to make money from running their own group.

It's about the money they'd lose if they were shut down permanently. And it has happend in other places. I've been around to see enough tracks get shut down permanently for this reason and that reason. Any group whether it is drifters, drag racers, Nascar west, etc that gets a bad rep and the neighborhood complains... there's a big chance the community will want the whole track shut down and converted to a mini-mall or condos.

Do you think the track wants to be shut down?
No.

Do you think they want to lose the rental money from renting to drifters? NCDA or anybody else?
No.

Altamont is not the enemy. Just stop whining and as everyone else said. Just go out and drift and support the people who help put these events together. Keep it off the street. And beat down anybody else who decides to do it near the track. Cause last thing we want is to lose another opportunity at the track.

Altamont doesn't care if they get their rental money from NCDA, or Winston West or whomever. They get their rental money regardless. If you want to boycott the track or anybody who does put on an event, you're just screwing yourself out of an event and screwing the organizer. Because no matter how many people show up, Altamont will get their rental fee and the organizer will end up eating the loss.

Just my $.02.

First off, I'm super excited to have an event up here in Norcal again. Sorry I wasn't able to post up here sooner cause I just flew in from Seattle to meet with the BN Sports guys from Japan. Just to clear up what Jay has already cleared and summed up, I'm helping him out with the website and getting sponsors for the event so guys will have a good time and get some goodies while you're out. I've helped NCDA as well as Just Drift get sponsors. Like Jay said, this is not a DriftUnit event. I've asked a few friends to help staff and hopefully more help out to make this event turn out good.

I just happened to be talking to Jay when the news broke from Todd, Henry and Don about NCDA (which btw is . We didnt want to lose this track since it IS only 45 minutes from my house in San Francisco. I just made that trek down to the Just Drift events last weekend and trust me, all you drifters in Norcal dont want to spend 400-450 towing or driving your car to goto a Socal event (although I did have a blast after my car started working again).

Anyways, We're doing this for the drifters here in norcal and to break even, we would love it if you all helped make this possible. thanks again.

This was posted in the 'No more norcal' thread... but I figured I'd repost here for reference.

We are going to be strict guys, don't get me wrong we do have fun in mind and want the event to be a success, but first and foremost we want to convey a safe, mature, repsonsible attitude to AMP staff and it's surrounding community.

I don't think anyone participating in the event or that reads the forums and knows what is going on will cause a problem, but what we do have to deal with are those potential spectators that might show up to watch. I will take it upon myself to make some signage to put at freeway offramps leading to the venue and at the AMP asking spectators to mind the law and respect the local community on their way to and from the event.

We want every organization that may host a drift event to be able to host at AMP. It's an awesome new facility that we should all get to take advantage of!!! So lets all be courteous and responsible.

All of the details for the event should be up on the website by Friday night. If you have any questions or concerns, please email me at [email protected]

Thanks everyone!

Jay
