ok well I just got a head, and during shipping some rocker arms fell off and most fell real close to wehre they go ,so i knew which area to put them, but then there were two close to each other and it confused me so i donno if i switched them to different locations, and I notice they are numbered on the bottom, some have 5 some have 8 and theres others i think, and in no specific order, im thinking this is a code, but at courtesy nissan, they dont say antyhing about sizes when you order, so im led to believe that they dont have different sizes, any body wanna help clear this up, also are those little shims on top of the valve springs coded at all, htey dont have any numbers. some of thosse are missing too i think. anyway i know the ka24de are, but the shims on the sr i didnt think they had different sizes, except of course on every other valve there is a notch in one of the little shims, i know that already, thanks for any help.

the shims are all different but the rockers im pretty sure your safe to have a few mixed up. i got 2-3 mixed up on mine. But, now that i think about it i do have more wear then usual on 2 of my rockers so im getting a valve tap.

To do this correctly since you have no clue of what came from where you'll need some special tools, you will have to remove the HVLA (Hydrulic Valve Lash Adjuster) and place this special tool in place of the HVLA which will have a dial indictor attached to it and do some measuring also you need a micrometer to measure your used shims or order new ones in teh correct size that you'll need, but you really do need an FSM for this job, that as far into that i'll get......
For those that have valve tap, you shouldn't ever really have this problem since SR20's are equiped with HVLA's unless somehow the engine sat for a very long time such as an imported engine or you removed the HVLA and they got air in them they are not self bleeding either you must manually bleed the air out of them and keep them submerged in oil until they are installed.

ok I plan on bleeding all my hvlas too, but I really need help with this dial indicator shit, I need that special tool that goes in the hvla spot, the tool that attaches to the dial indicator and stand. I can get a dial indicator and stand on ebay or from the store, but I need that stand. only 3 pages come up on google when i search the part number, that number is KV10115700. I doubt any nissan dealership will have it here. any of you japanese, european folks got access to it, I assume its no part you can just find at a local store.
my god Ive found it, and it aint cheap. Had to do some various other searches, such as hvla tool and what not and here it is coming in at 175.
so, if anyone knows of a cheaper alternative, PLEASE LET ME KNOW, also anyone interested in renting it from me if I do end up having to buy it.

hmm this is looking ever so good, since it would be baically next to nothing to fabricate. I have access to a welder and have lash adjusters from my current head. although i would probably want to keep them since my head could be reusable. but id rather have the beefy new unit. anyone wanna rent!!!!!!!!
