Recently my window stopped moving and it took me awhile to figure out what was wrong.
I saw that alot of pople are having teh same problem so decided to write up a guide for it, step by step.

1) Take off your door cover
There are 3 screws on the bottom and then just pop it off.

2) Get a Volt meter, turn on teh car so u can move teh windows,
disconnect the wire that connects the power aplifier (white box)
to teh motor inside the door, its a black clip and is close to the
side mirror. Now connect the wire going from teh amplifier to your
volt meter and move the window switch. The voltage should be around 12V,
positive or negative depending if teh switch is up or down.

If you get both positive and negative 12V then the switch and
the amplifier are fine, meaning its your motor, so skip to step 4.
If you do not get the above result keep reading.

3) Now you must isolate the problem, its either the amplifier, switch,
or a fuse. If both windows stopped working then its probably the
fuse. It is located under the hood in the fusebox and i believe is
25A. If one window works fine than fuse is also fine.

Now you will need to test each part out.
Take apart teh amplifier and the switch and look for abnormalities
such as burned or cracked electronics, transistors, wires dicsonnected
black marks around connection points, etc.
When you take apart the switch, also look at the little moving white
switches and make sure theyre not broken.

4) Troubleshooting the motor.
First you will need a 10 mm socket to take out all the screws...
See the picture below, first do teh red ones, that should free the
regulator assembly. Carefully lift up teh window to reach the screws
wit the blue arrows and take em out. If u got tint be careful cuz teh
loose parts can easily scratch it. After taking out teh screws lift up
teh windo most of teh way up and take out teh regulator and motor shit
Now take a look at it and make sure everything looks normal...
teh gears and everything got oil n stuff. Now take off the motor by
unscrewing 3 phillips screw things. Connect it to the wire harness
and see if it moves/makes noises. If u hear nothing, there is still hope lol
Take apart the motor and look at the brushes and make sure theyre not damaged
try turning the rotor with hand u shuld see the gear move slowly at the bottom
take out the lil brown plate with the capacitor inside, might have to pull a little bit
take a look at the capacitor(black square thing) and make sure its not burned
which was my problem. So if its burned what you can do is get a small wire and connect
both ends of it so the current bypasses it altogether. I do not guarantee that this
is safe or a good choice but its a free fix tha tcan make your motor last a little longer
I've been using it for about a month and its fine - lil slower than usual but works
ALSO make sure that u put on the motor cap teh right way and connect all teh wires right
I dunno if its cuz wut i did but my switch now if u press up window goes down
and press down it goes up anyways i dont mind as long as it moves lol.

Thanks to R240NA and others who helped me figure it out
Feel free to add stuff - I know i didnt cover everything

Thank you!!! My driver side window doesn't work anymore...hopefully I can make it work. I can hear the ticking...and I know there's just something messed up like my seat belt motors...thanks man. But it ain't gettin' sticky. Probably in FAQ. Hehe.

+1

yeah my amplifier was ticking too its probably the transistor/capacitor inside the motor - easy fix take u about 30 min if u follow my guide

From all the s-chassis` I've seen, when the window didn't want to work, the cable had frayed and lodged inbetween the motor and the rack.

S14s are not cable operated. In the case of an S13, yes, that's the problem 99% of the time.

Good write up but before taking things apart one easier way to check the motor is to use a 12V battery, either the cars or a loose MC battery.
Using wires supply power to the blue and green wire from the motor to power the motor, swap the leads for up or down movement.

My motor works but still haven't solved the problem of the pass/window not working.
Haven't found the power amp in my door...?, switches ohm out good and since I've been fcuking with it will only go down when lifting the switch up...? and doesn't work at all from the drivers side and yes the lock is off. Suspecting the switch now?

Been searching through forums to find solutions since my service manual hasn't arrived. :newbie:

Any suggestions are appreciated, 95 S14 SE.

cool forum BTW.

Pulled the motor out again today. Removed the stator and cleaned the armature, The brushes look worn with being an 1/8 thick but may be OK. The wires ohm out good.

The capacitor looks normal and haven't yet shorted it out to see the result. Again I can raise and lower the window using a 12V source.
Since I messed with it again I can now raise the window using the passenger switch as it should be by lifting the switch. Still won't lower either using switches.
