Basically, heres my situation. I have a basically stock 95' Se (Intake, exhaust, and SAFCII). The settings for the SAFCII were pretty rich and it maxed out at around +27% at around 6500 Rpms. It seemed to run faster, and it was faster against some of my friends cars. This was all well and good until tonight when i was driving around, and i came to a nice open stretch of road. At around 35mph i dropped it into 2nd and stepped in it. It felt pretty good till around 4300-4500 rpms, which was when it completely stopped pulling and from what i could tell it backfired out the intake at around 5000RPms. I tried it again (kinda stupid on my part) and it did the same thing only i let off at 4500. I decided to set the SAFC back to the stock fuel settings, and it pulled all the way to redline. My question for you guys is... What did i break? Injectors because they might have gotten maxxed out running +27%... Fuel Pump for the same reason?? or something completely different??
Thanks in advance for the help guys,

more info on your set up? Why you're running +27%?

Well... first off, this isnt a very accurate way to tune... and i know that... but basically... i did a increasing spectrum up to +10% and it felt pretty good. i bumped it up to +15% felt a lil better too. I raced one of my friends with a S13 and he barely pulled. I bumped it up to +25% just to see. After that move i actually stayed level with him. And i just decided to up it to 27% basically for the hell of it. This prolly isnt the most accurate way to tune... but i figured no harm could really come to the motor if i put too much gas in. i didnt quite think about the other aspects of system though... i.e. Fuel system.
Oh and also, my timing is advanced about 4 degrees.
Thanks

hehe... and i kinda didnt awnser your question. The reason i went richer was because at high Rpms the motor would not pull very hard or even at all. I figured it wasnt getting enough fuel. Thats why i richened it up.

You need to get a wideband or on a dyno with a wideband to figure out what you need and what is going on.

Ok, but that wont really tell me what is broken though. Wideband would definitely be a huge in helping me make my car run alot better, but what are the symptoms of bad/maxed injectors or bad/maxed fuel pump? I would assume it would be something along the lines of running lean, however im not sure if there are any other symptoms.
Thanks

what do you have? stock fuel pump n injectors? if thats the case then that might be the problem. whats your setup? also that might be running to rich...
Stock powerband on a KA ends at 5600. In N/A Rich does not equal power. Rich is a subjective number.

Well... heres the thing... i agree with you tre that the KA stock has shit for top end. However... after like 4 grand it would seem to lose alot of power... I just figured that it wasnt getting enough fuel to run properly, so i added fuel. It wasnt like i was just adding fuel becuase it would make it faster. I was just trying to make it run the best.
Stock everything pretty much... stock injectors, stock fuel pump, ect.

weird mine picks up at 4200. remember cams are your biggest inhibiter of top end power, not fuel.
Hell after I just did I/H/E i noticed it wanted to pull a little harder than usual after 4. But cams dropped of at 5600 still. So I tried adjustable cam gears. And now have a noticeable powerband from 4200-6000. Which still sucks IMO. lol
But you could have maxed out your injectors far to much. Everything on a stock car is set to a "safe" tune. Meaning the injector duty cycle is probably only at 80%. Adding +27% fuel, probably overdid the duty cycle and maybe you're injectors are giving up. Put it back to stock and see how it works is all i can say.

Ok.. ya as soon as that started happening i put it back to stock. So i guess i'll be upgradeing the Fuel system sooner than i was planning. (ka-t)
thanks
