testing ignitor chip

i was testing my ignitor chip(redtop) with a voltimeter and using this diagram. the first test with the combo of "e" and "1,2,3,4" gave no signal like it says. then i tried the next combo with "e" and "a,b,c,d" this time NO signal, same with the next set of, No signal(no continuity). so is everyone going to tell me my chip is no good? or should i still test it in a running sr20 and verify its not working. btw is there anyone in salem, oregon or near by that would let me try it on your car that would help me out. also checked my ignition coils and they were exactly at 1 ohm each. thanks.

Yah test it on another SR, that is the best way.... Run it around and see if it dies. I had a similar problem and I ALWAYS suggest people to cut the ground on the ignitor and ground it to a chassis, I have mine hooked in directly to a distribution block and don't use the harness grounds. Saves ignitors. Good luck.

I understand that this is an old post but, Did you ever figure out the solution. I'm going through the same problem. Im trying to test the chips independent of the system. I've gone through 4 different chip and they all have a similar out come of no continuity. Please help.

Its really hard to test an ignitor in general... But if its a common problem of burning ignitors, then something is definitely shorting it..... check the harness

Yeah, just trying to figure out if its the ignitor or a short in the harness before I cut the harness for a Q45 ignitor chip. I have found the procedure in the FSM, but still get no continuity at any of the pins. I've already tried 2 SR20 chip and have two Q45 chips that I haven't connected to the harness yet. Any help would be appreciated.

theres a difference between analog and digital m-meters. Test with analog only as it states. Digital meters have fixed impedance in them and are usually 50 times greater then most analog meters.
