I recently swapped a lower mileage ka in my 95 obdII S14....the car idle's at 800rpm but sounds like it has a small brake up in the ignition system(new bkr7's installed gapped to .28,one of the electroids on one of the plugs chipped a little )

If rev it past 4k rpm,and let go the gas it dies off. Also sometimes it starts sputtering and than dies off,and then I cant get it to start again like if the battery(optima redtop) was out of juice...

So what you guys think it is.... is it the ignition(timing),sparkplugs, maf(cobra),or IACV

supporting mods...
JWT ecu 680cc program
cobra maf
safcII
msd6a
bkr7e 11's iridium

BTW:I've been running this setup for a long time prior to this recent swap without any issues.

thanks, in advance

sounds alot like your IAC and the death without restart sounds almost like a CKP or CMP not getting/giving proper signal check for pinched wires and such and recheck the gap on your plugs and set em to oem specs

whats wierd is that the car was running fine for a half hour before it started acting up.I can't run the plugs to oem specs beacuse I'm boosting close 10psi and it will break up.Also the timing most be off since I checked the plugs and the tips are white.:eek3:

BTW:what does CKP and CMP stand for?

Ok,

fixed my alternator problem and recently changed the plugs(gapped them to .30 this time)but something weired happened right after I changed the plugs,The idle jumps up pass 1400 rpms and stays there no matter what I do.....after a couple of WOT runs the idle settles down to 750 for atleast 10secs and then starts jumping around between 600-750 like it wants to die,if rev it past 1k rpms it settles down again to 750rpms for a few seconds and starts jumping around again.... (I've had 5 240's and never seen this happen)

BTW:I did notice alot of carbon build up around the plugs and when I down shift while crusing coming to a stop it pops and backfires irraticlly, has a small missfire at idle....
