ive got a 1991 nissan 240sx coupe. im doing alot of bodywork to it and installing a sr20det blacktop. what i am torn between is whether i should strip the interior, get rid of the a/c and everything or restore the interior with new carpet, headliner, etc. If i keep the interior, the door panels will be reupholstered along with the rear seats to match the color fabric of the front seats. I know it would look alot nicer if it was like that but i do also like the gutted look. money isnt an issue so. please help me out!!!

well it depends on what your gonna ddo with the car if your gutting it for the look it wont make much of a difference, and its nice having to actually fit some friends in once in a while.

if money is no issue, thne strip it and reoufit it with carbon fiber interior. best of both worlds, and of course money is no issue here.

Arrrrgh!!! This kinda question pops up all the time and is really irritating. Spend a good deal of time driving the car and soaking up info in the forums and THEN make up your mind.
I've driven a stripped hatch and although it was lighter and handled well it was a PITA as a daily. Too lound, it rattled and would feel like an oven in the summer.

i mean im just kinda stuck between convenience and comfort and the idea of the car being lighter...

reupholster it, who cares about a few pounds, do some mild engine upgrades and that will offset the extra weight. maybe take out ac but i donno its nice to have if it gets really hot. unless your hardcore dorifto boy, then its gonna be the dumbest thing you could do to ur car to gut it.

gut it and get a daily driver. Go big or go home.

yea mj thanks for the advice. i was kinda leaning torward reupholstering the interior but there was jus a few people at the car meet i go to that "insisted" that i gut it n put a roll cage in it. i like the roll cage idea but the no interior panels thing wasnt too apealing to me

'Drive the car at the track as is and slowly upgrade it as you find the need and fully understand the need for the upgrade.'
That would the be logical approach but none of us follow it.

Make up your own mind. No one seems to do that anymore. :loco:

well I didnt know you have a daily already, in that case the idea of gutting it is more feasible, although I still wouldnt reccomend it. Similar to what manonegra said, and let me start with an example, if your new to the golf game, your not going to benefit from 2000 dollar clubs and the best spinning ball. first go out there and learn then, if you really want to go do what those guys told you, but just cuz they said to do something doesnt mean you have to. you wouldnt believe what people have told me to do with my car. I dont even pay attention anymore to them.

Sort of off topic but i notice your SN is EVOETR. How many evos have you eaten?
Back on topic: If its a track car i say gut it.
Full cage with full interior. Best of both worlds.
That's what I did with my first one, and what I'm going to do with my new one.

Your gonna put a roll cage in your car because the initial d fanboys at the meet told you to?
Dude its your car,you dont do what other people tell you to with your own car..
if you do than listen to what the guy before me posted...Sell your car...preferably to a 63 year old lady with no grandsons.

Don't strip interiors. The only reason you strip interiors, is for a ROLL CAGE. You only save like. . .maybe 50 lbs when you strip the entire interior, and your car looks really shitty.
Until you have the cage all ready, don't touch the inside of your car please.

Oh and unless that car's going to see mroe track time than being driven to go get groceries or something or pick up the kids...I don't think you should strip the interior.

dude...
just spend a saturday stripping it, and see if u like it THAT much. if not , put the damn interior back.
why is this even a question? its not like u have to spend ne $ to strip ur interior.
had mine stripped for 3 or 4 months. didnt make enough of a difference and it was rattling like a mofo. annoying. if its ur daily driver i wouldnt even bother. nobody, that is important anyways, is gonna give u a thumbs up just cuz u stripped ur interior.
the main reason i stripped mine, well the rear half anyways, was cuz i was sick of giving ppl rides and nobody wants to sit on hard metal =)
stripped interiors is for track cars.

if you are not a pussy - go all balls out. no middle ground. strip it, drive it, race it, drift it. who needs interior? extra weight. if you like "comfort" and "stereo" and soft heated leather seats for your abused vagina, then by all means replace interior, make it look nice. then it will be just another car.
just remember, a race car doesnt need a cupholder or a dvd deck with a screen and remote controlled masage seats.
then, when you are ready (if you are not a pussy) put an 8 point cage in it. ;) good luck bro

If it is only a track car strip it. If its going to see the street I suggest keeping at least the majority of the interior.
