i can get Motegi 17" mr4 gun metal rims with tires for close to 900 unmounted
they are
17x7
+40mm offset
25.5 lbs each

rotaryknight - yes i knew that, but do you have anyother comments? you say it like its bad yet dont say anything else. do you not like them because there "american" racing rims? or do you know they are inferior from experience? <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='???'>

ridebmx - yes and the do have lighter ones but i rather have one that looks the way i want it to rather than weight becides, they cant be to much more (if any) heavier than the stock rim right? <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'>

what im really trying to find out is if the are crappy - meaning do they chip, bend, scratch easily?

American Racing doesn't make Motegi wheels. i believe it is the same arrangement as Firestone and Bridgestone. Firestone oversees operations and has partial ownership, but bridgestone still manufactures their own product, basically independent of Firestone. iirc, it is the same arrangement with Motegi. and yes, 25lbs is heavy, i suspect that the stock wheels weigh around 18-19lbs for SE 16x6.5 alloys, or about 30% more. go to FAQ to learn more about the issues of increasing weight of unsprung rotating mass components.
