First Meowth, now Keivmx. At least this time the damage wasn't so bad... only body damage, no frame or engine damage.
Oh well.... it's a learning experience...

he has an S14.. Driver's side fender is busted... rear driver's side fender area needs body work. Bumper needs bumpin'.

Not sayin that the person who crashed was a shitty driver. I am just saying that no matter how bad the road is, the driver should be able to take that into account and drive to suit the conditions. But when your out there pushing yourself sometimes you get carried away and go past your limits, thats very easy to do. Regardless, sucks to see that happen and hope the car turns out ok in the end. Just be careful out there guys, a car is one thing, but if someone gets hurt thats a whole diff story. Keep it safe!

Tuna canyon (A+) - Road is one way, downhill, and is the closest thing to a tarmac stage you'll see in L.A. county. It's not much wider than your car, and takes real balls to fly down it. My brakes are always cherry red at the bottom.
Latigo canyon (A+) - Extremly technical with a great variety of corners, bumps, debris, and elevation changes. Watch out for the decreasing radius corners, or off the cliff you go. Used to be the first Friday night of every month, a bunch of people would go run that road around midnight.
Decker canyon (A) - Super tight, and usually quite dirty, which means that you will be steering the car with the throttle alot. Whatch out for trees, mailboxes, and the occasional pissed-off dog on the side of the road.
Stunt road (A) - Many blind corners, so keep a safe line. Watch out for bumps and debris mid-apex too. Many straights that end in tight turns that if you don't brake early enough, off the cliff you go.
Las Flores canyon (B) - an Ok road, little heavy on the traffic side. Good way to get to
Stunt or Tuna canyon, when taking PCH to Malibu.
Old Topanga canyon (B) If it weren't for traffic, this would be an A++ road. You get held up a lot and there are few opportunities for a safe pass. It has a little of everything. The hairpins are fantastic!

I take some responsibility for Keiv's crash. I was leading the pack and was probably going too fast. What happened that day sucked. I was in front, MrMigs was behind me(another fast one), KeivMX in 3rd, and Avextrax was in the back(Club4AG hachi). I was on 3rd gear(full throttle) when i hit the blind turn. Going so fast, that hairpin made me and Migs accidentally drift around that turn, but made it through nicely. Behind us was Keiv in his clean ass S14w/ Dual N1s(whatta shame), he was going fast when he came up to the turn he, then realized he wasnt gonna make it, and slammed on the brakes. That jus made him loose his grip and slide to whatever direction he was going. FORTUNATELY, that sliding direction he took was abruptely stopped by a guard rail. If he wouldnt of caught that guard rail he wouldve gone straight OFF the CLIFF! After that, we jus cruised it down and found a nice dirt lot, on the way, where me and Migs started testing our cars, RALLY STYLE!
Great thing about it was that it was all caught on TAPE! by two different passengers. Come to think of it, KeivMX was the only one that didnt have a passenger...All the rest of us did. I think we all had better weight ratio, except for Keiv. Maybe the reason for him crashing? No one know...Bumm, Badumm, Bumm!
Dragon knows all of em'. He's got them right on the dot too! I've never tried Tuna Canyon(maybe next time), but youre right on Old Topanga Canyon. That was the first one we took that day and we were being held up by local residents, big time.

We continue to use that road because it's challenging as hell, and compared to the other roads we've taken, it's the road with the least amount of traffic on it. (probably because people dont want to crash but thats...nm !! )
It's still fun as hell, yo.... when you don't crash.

NEXT MEET IM GOING TO ORGANIZE WILL HAVE TO BE BY SENDING PRIVATE MESSAGES.
I'm sorry but no more canyon runs are gonna be planned out in the open like we used to. This way I know who's going and who's skilled enough to go. I don't want to feel responsible for another person's crash or maybe death. I know i shouldn't be sayin that but its true.
thanxs
yeah, I almost ate it on latigo not too long ago too -- only I was in an FF car.
Anyway, I feel the pain! post photos if you can. were you going from PCH or TO pch?
Meowth, I'm still interested in the stuff, sorry I've not been online, I don't have a connection here (except for when I come to these internet cafes) -- You have the headlight too? I'll be back in mid August, so if it's not TOO much trouble, keeping it until then would be great. Thanks!

As for driving along in the wilderness (without even speeding mind you) The deer and the *late* 240 speaks volumes for that.

damn, missed that run. Im finally getting a good run on sat. night. 2 FC's (1 NA, 1 turbo) V. 2 S13's (1 NA, 1 turbo). I'll let you guys know how it turns out.

I unfortuantely had to miss that run I wish I could have been there. Last night I went up on a short cruise to do some last minute checks on my suspension, new non-seq turbo setup and brakes for the run. Unfortunately after a few short runs, I deemed my brakes unsafe
If I went I probably woulda flown off the cliff due to lack of braking power
Im gonna buy some new pads (Maxi) so I can make it next time
Never good when someone wrecks, but it's a learning experience. Glad everyone came out ok.
Latigo has a lot of decreasing radius turns, with some tricky embankments that you gotta account for...you gotta be realcareful. Liberal use of the brakes prior to the turn is suggested
Remember guys, be sure to brake before the turn so that you are at a safe speed while turning. If you do in fact start sliding, it is much safer to steer with the gas (blip it). Hitting the brakes just releases the load on the rear (weight transfer to front) and causes you to slide out even more.

Coolerow, you have nothing to do with my mistake, nor does anybody else with our group. I made a mistake and my car paid for it.
I entered a blind turn too fast. At the apex, I panicked and stupidly braked to slow down. That threw the front tires out of its gripping limits and I understeered into a guard rail.
I can't believe I made this mistake. The turn was blind so I should have taken it with more caution. Also, the way to fight understeer is to step on the gas to induce oversteer...braking is the last thing I should have done.
I don't regret going on this run or making this mistake. A lesson was learned and I was lucky to pay with only body panel damage. If I can go challenge Latigo again, I will gladly take the invitation.
At least I now have an excuse to transform my car into its kouki form...

hey, that's how u get the best out of it... you fuck up your car, learn from your mistakes, and replace w/ better panels. like me!
btw, adey, yah i still have the parts. the fender isn't in great condition like i've mensioned b4, but it's decent, as for the headlight, the plastic thing that connects to the motor broke, you will have to replace it, other than that, it's all fine. and yes i can weight till aug.

So secrets, good or bad.... i dunno. I guess it depends on who you tell them to. Tell them to the wrong people, and you'll get a lot of dumbasses attracting negative attention to your usual spot. Tell them to the right people, and you can have a nice group to run with on the weekends.
