hey everyone,
anybody here have a rollcage in their 240sx? I've seen AutoPower ones on optauto.com but nowhere else really. Who else makes rollcages for the 240sx fastback? What is their website? Do they have prices listed or does anyone know what they cost? Also, for those who have em, did you do the installation and was it hard? Thanks a lot.
You will have to get a JDM one if you dont want a Autopower one which are actually really nice. Check out the links section and go to Takakaira.com or whatever it is. They have a few for the s13 and s14s.

does anyone have a picture of the autopower rollcage?.. or can they describe where it goes.. i want o have the option ofr someone in the back seat.. i don't ever have anyone back there.. but i want the option.. will i.. also i don't wanna make it a pain in the ass to get in and out fo the car. will it?thanx
Wouldn't it be better/cheaper to just have a shop custom make one to your liking?

I dunno... That seems like a pretty good price for a cage that was developed specifically for your car by a big company. I thought they would be a lot more than that.
How exactly do they go in? How much welding is involved etc?

Cusco makes a 4 pt cage for the S13 FB. Pricing is depending who you get it from is 250-400

A few things to keep in mind... anything beyond a 4 pt. bar is not appropraite for the street. A 4 pt. is great for autox or track days - but you can't use it in competition. A 6 pt. is legal for most sanctioned bodies, but is a VERY bad idea for the street.
Something people seem to forget is that when you have a 6 pt. or more cage, you have a forward and side bar around your head. That means that should you hit the brakes too hard, you could dink your head on your new obstruction (the bar) and do damage to yourself where none would have been done before. W/o a helmet, a cage is more likely to injure you in a minor accident than save you from a rollover. A bar is better for street since it is behind your head, but will still protect you pretty well in a rollover.

OMG I SAW A GEO METRO WITH A ROLL CAGE YESTERDAY... THOSE METROS ARE SURE SOMETHING!
but anyway yeah I had a friend who got a custom set up for his Datsun 510.. I'm not really sure if it's good quality but it only cost him like $260 and it doesn't look that bad, as far as roll cages go.

My mechanics both race with SCCA and have had a shop put custom cages in a Neon and Miata. From what I recall, they said both cost about $500.
There's a shop in my area (NE NJ) that was going to help me strengthen my S13 ragtop for about that much as well. I can dig up the number to anyone who wants it.
My phone conversation with them went as follows...
Me: "I was looking to have something built."
Peter (the owner): "Is it made of steel?"
Me: "Uhm. Well, yeah."
Peter: "Okay, then we'll do it. Wha'd'ya want?"
...you can fill in the rest. =)

GReddy ususally brings Cusco products but you can also contact Bozz Speed up in Northern California...they are the only other place that has a direct account with Cusco in the US. Think retail is about 400 for the 4 pt.
I agree that a full cage will do you more harm than good on the street. Autopower stuff is okay, the fit is pretty generic though. I can put you in touch with a guy in ohio or check out Tri Point Engineering in L.A.
