So I just got my ATI ez pod for my s13
http://autotechinteriors.com/products_ezpod.php
and was really looking foward to installing it so I don't have to lean over to see my boost/water temp gauge. Well I placed the gauge pod on my steering column and really like the way it looks, however when i went to put my boost gauge in (autometer carbon fiber) I ran into a lil prob. 1st... the screws that stick out the back won't allow the gauge to sit in there correctly. I'm not too worried about this on b/c I can just cut the screws off(I don't think you can take the gauge apart) 2nd...the fitting that you connect the hose to cant exactly be removed and it sits on the lower part of the gauge and I know that I'll run into the same prob w/the sender on the water temp gauge. Has anyone used these and ran into the same prob.? If so what did you do? I don't have a prob slightly modifing the holder to accomadate the gauge but I think I'll have to do too much and it won't look clean...lmk

what did u have in mind? probably gonna have to drill out the back some more and go from there...gonna try and make it look as clean as possible w/wire loom(would've had to use it anywayz) but yeah so far its not what I expected

a nice way but waste is to use a tbolt clamp and make a little U like bracket and then u can put it anywhere in y our car. Looks pimp because you wasted a tbolt clamp. I'll show pics once I put back my black dash

Have no idea what you are trying to say, but I wanted to be on the steering column b/c I like the position of it and the way it looks there....can you just put the pod on there(lie it on the dash) and post a pic to give me a better idea of what you mean?

I want something that concealed the wires. It doesn't look like this does it.

spent a few minutes on this today...obviously had to modify the pod w/the boost gauge but it wasn't too difficult...so far my water temp gauge had no prob...I'm going to finish it in the next couple of days w/some wire loom and see how it goes from there
modified pic(used a small hacksaw blade to cut it)

view w/my steering wheel on..def like this positioning better

I'll post the finished pics in a few days

Alright finally finished. Had to do some more modifing to get it almost perfect. I really think that ATI should state that the product will require some modification, b/c they only put a front pic on the product for their website, and no other info is available. I like the overall look(I think somebody refered to it as the mickey mouse ears) and love the position they're at now...anywayz here's the final pics
1. Shows how I ran the wire loom to make it as discrete as possible (The white thing is a tie wrap b/c I couldn't find any of my zip ties)

2. Side shot

3.Front view of finished product

I know this is prob. not the best "write-up" but I figured if someone is on the fence w/getting these it will give them enough info to make a good decision

Looks pretty good. +1
I like how the tach is in the middle of the gauges....good job on the concealing the wire/line coming out of the back.

How hard is it to see fuel and other "stock" guages, now?

As hard as it is to move my neck to one side or the other. To be honest I'm not worried about the fuel b/c its not like I have to monitor it all of the time. As for as the speed goes I have a HUD which is something of an advantage (an advantage if was working correctly.)
BTW on the topic of my hud. Would a bad speed sensor have the speed showing slower than it is? My speed never shows above 30+ mph no matter how fast I'm going or could it be something in the wiring of the harness? Been wondering for some time now.

Hopefully no one will have this problem if they use electronic gauges with a live unit because they take up less space than mechicanical gauges.

I'm kinda disappointed about this too. I saw this thing a few months ago and was considering buying. I still might but not until I get some eletronic guages (if I even go that route)
Dirty Rat: I think you did a good job on cleaning it up. I'm curious, if you were running a regular cluster (non-hud)...do you think that the speedo and tach would be blocked and become an issue?

Yeah I was wondering the same thing. I've never used electronic gauges but through common sense I figured that you wouldn't have all of the mechanical senders. I thought about getting the saga elect. gauges but couldnt justify the extra money when I knew these would work w/a little bit of modification.

Just from looking at the non-hud cluster I would think it would cover the first 3rd of the speedo and the last 3rd of the tach=

Anyone on this question...I have an s14 sr in my s13 if it makes any diff.
