This past weekend we traveled up to New Jersey for the NHRA Englishtown event. Great weekend all around for the Mazworx S14, in 3rd round qualifying Mark ran his personal best of a 9.71 @ 144 mph and ran another 9.71 in the semifinal round.

The finals pitted Mark Mazurowski against Julie Stepan and her WRX. We all knew the S14 has a lot of potential and Mark made a few changes that apparently the car and driver really liked blasting a 9.35 @ 152 mph pass in the finals. Although Mark was just edged by Julie at the finish line I don't think anyone cares right now - finally got the car dialed in to where it needs to be and with the new data that we have compiled the car will only be getting quicker and faster as the season progresses.

This car is in full NHRA Sport RWD Trim - meaning "street" car, full interior with the exception of the back seat, full glass, all lights, windshield wipers, etc work, stock gas tank, car is running on 26 x 11.5 x 15 Mickey Thompson DOT ET Streets

Car Setup:

S14 Chassis - Weighs 2650 with driver
Mazworx 25.4 Spec Funny Car Style Cage
Mazworx Parachute Mount
Mazworx Window Net
SR20DET, stock stroke, 86.5mm bore
Golden Eagle Sleeves
CP Pistons
Supertech Valvetrain
Mazworx Intake Manifold
Greddy Turbo Manifold
Greddy T88 Turbocharger
Motec M880
Mazworx VG to SR Tranmission Adapter Kit with VG 5 Speed Transmission
Tilton Clutch and Hydraulic Release Bearing
Mazworx Carbon Fiber Driveshaft
Mazworx 240sx Complete Race Axle Kit

We aren't 100% sure how much power the car is making as we haven't really dyno'ed the car at all - based on the weight and MPH we would estimate mid 700 whp - this pass was ran at 35 psi (plenty more left in it )

What differential do you run?

Looks like he kinda bogged when he shifted, 60 ft could have been better if the car didnt nose dive would it?

What differential do you run?

stock S14 diff with Kaaz LSD

working on a page with complete specs, pictures, etc

a 1.32 60' time is pretty ridiculous for an independent rear suspension car on DOT ET Streets - pretty much unheard of - car also did a 1.34 the same day, apparenly the custom work that we did on the rear suspension is paying off

car got a little loose in 2nd you can see the nose drop and come back up when mark had to pedal it

minimum weight for the class for this car is 2600 pounds with driver - we are at 2650 right now so really not much weight reduction we can do

we haven't had the car on a dyno to see what kind of power it is making but based on weight and MPH we would estimate mid 700 whp right now

Eh my bad i was thinking of something else when i was looking at the 60 ft. i suck at reading when i just woke up. Nice run tho, i think you could have won if it wasnt for the car getting loose in 2nd.

Looks like the S14 has more hp than the suby with the higher trap speed. :hsdance:

I dont mean to flame you....

But how on earth are you racing in such professional levels, with such a powerful motor, with NO DYNO NUMBERS OR TUNING? I would think you would spend DAYS on a dyno testing what makes power, and what doesnt....

explain please.

wow... awesome! super fast!

is it common for a car to have a slower 1/4 time but a higher trap speed?

we have had the car on the dyno a couple of times but have had issues with it during dyno sessions never allowing us to make a full boost pass to see what horsepower and torque #'s are being made - Mark has been working off of the basemaps that he has gathered during the brief dyno sessions and tuning the car at the track after each pass

pretty much anything and everything is logged on this car with the Motec setup so all the relavent data is available at the track for tuning purposes

higher trap speed= it takes longer time to get through the track, hence more time for speed to increase. yes, it is common to show a higher speed/slower time.
basically, the faster you can accelerate through the track, the less speed you will be able to accumulate.

:tweak: The faster you accelerate the faster you will be going at the end of the track. One is the product of another.

it is not unusual to have a slower time and higher trap speed. if you have a lot of wheelspin, it will increase your time. but if you are making more power than your competitor, you can get a higher trap speed once you get going

Some info and specs on the car for those that have been asking:

Orlando, FL, May 11, 2006 - With the outrageous Nissan 240SX craze upon us, a fabrication shop out of Orlando, Florida decided to take a different approach to their S14. Sport Compact Drag Racing had been in their blood for the last six years and the guys at Mazworx knew what it took to get the job done. Straightline stability and high horsepower is the name of this game and when Mark Mazurowski started laying out the plans for his Drag S14 build he knew all the right parts to purchase and when that part wasn't already available on the market, Mazworx's full fabrication shop made it. Knowing the potential of the SR20DET engine, Mazworx decided that it would be the powerplant of choice for this wild street legal drag car. Purpose built for the NHRA Sport RWD class, the rules are strict so every avenue of the build would be under examining eyes in competition. Rule book in hand and only three months to complete the car before the first event as many resources as possible were in place to get the job done. From the incredible 25.4 Spec Roll Cage to the 10k RPM revving 2.0L engine nothing was overlooked in what has turned into one of the quickest and fastest S14's in the world right out of the box.

see the full release here:
http://www.tunerzine.com/pr/mazworx/s14.html

We will be in Atco, NJ for the next NHRA Event May 20th and 21st if anyone in the area is interested in coming out and checking out the car.
