ok guys, i just bought a VIS carbon fiber hood from a guy in my town for 200 bucks (oem style). it looks really good, but at a certain angle it looks almost like it was in a hail storm. its only when the lighting is right, but the hood is smooth and i cant feel any dimples. is this normal? maybe just crap on the top of the clear coat? can i buff and wax the hood? sorry, i dont know anything about them but it was cheap and for the most part it looks awesome.

That was a very stupid comment.:ugh:
its probably the clear coat. i dont have a carbon hood but on my rear trunk i does the same thing. when its really bright outside i can see awhole bunch of dots and fading but when its shady i cant see anything and its smooth, no bumps.

yeah thats what i was thinking, is it safe to use a rubbing compound and some polish and wax on CF? maybe that would make it look better?

It doesnt hurt to try. If it goes wrong you can always re-shoot clear on it. Thats what i did when my CF hood started looking like crap.
