Can I go to Nissan with my registration papers to show I own the car, and get a new key? I didn't get a spare when I bought my car. TIA

depends on the year of your car. they only have 96 and up 240's in the registry. you might have to get a new lock and key set. either that or junkyard it.

from what I understand there's a key ID number int he glove box but very few ppl actually still have it there and even if u did the dealer prob doesn't have that one on record...best bet is probably to contact a locksmith and find out what they can do

Call a nissan dealer and ask them. Best bet on if they can or not.

i think a locksmith can make you a new set of keys if you bring him one of the lock cylinders, prepare to have your wallet raped though, the car is in a garage? if so just try to open it with a hanger and take out the door lock cylinder and go to locksmith, check dealership first to save yourself a shitload of trouble.

On my 86 corolla, when I had to have a key made, I had to take the passenger side solinoid with me and they made a key like that.

Take the trunk silenoid to a locksmith since it's the easiest to remove. It's not going to cost that much, about $50, probably cheaper than a dealer. I had to do that when I broke my key.

guys, i forgot, i took out my glove box and it's in the garage, so no need to break into my car. anyway, i took a pic of the white sticker inside the glove. i don't see any codes that start with an 'X'. is it this sticker?

I miss the easiness of just replacing the tumblers for $12 on my fords. But the 240sx does start more consistently.

inside your glove box, there *should* be a sticker (underneath all of your papers :D) not all of them have it anymore...they somehow go missing over time.

The sticker should be at the left side, inside the glove box . Hope that helps.

I dont think you can use the lock on your glove box to make the key. On my old S14 i could use a flat head screw driver to lock and unlock my glovebox. But thank god it didnt work for my doors. I think the best and easiest one to use would be the trunk lock.

i just lost my only key also.
no stinker with number on it.
but there should alsot be the same code on the passenger side door.
at least, that's what i was told.
but i have no clue how to get at it.
and on top of it all, my car is stuck on top of a trailor, no key to unlock the stearing, and no power to roll up the windows even if i had the key so i could get to the code on the pass door.
and locksmiths cost 150 since they have to come to you since your one and only car doesn't have a god damn key to start it. or even a motor to start...
has anyone actually just taken in their glove box lock and made one from that? cuz i've got mine out and ready if its possible.
