s2000's rock, anyone who says they suck are haters imo. It's almost as good as an NSX on track

First I want to start off by saying yes I love the new honda s2000. The car handles like a dream. I couldn't find the thresh-hold on the car. No matter what I did it seemed to stay stuck to the road. Second the throw on the car is rediculously small. Very easy and very fun car to drive. A plus is that it does have 6 gears. Me and my buddy got up to 126mph in a new s2000 with the top down and I do have to say that it was the most intense feeling I've ever had. The bad about it is that yes it is a two seater car. And because I'm 6'2" I had a hard time finding a comfortable position. I had to put the seat all the way back, then lean the back all the way back, and I was still quite cramped. They def aren't built for us tall guys. But if this is going to be a car that you drive around town and not on trips, I'd say pick one up. Honda's are some of the most reliable cars made. I say go for it.

I'm 5'9 and 170lb. i think S2000 is a really small car and the ride is uncomfortable. however, the performance is excellent. in my opinion, it is not a practical car

If you're worried about 'fitting' in a S2K, then I would recomend test driving a friend's S2K, or if none of your friends have S2Ks then try one out at a dealership or something. Then you can see for yourself

s2000's have one of the best transmitions in the industry acording to my experience (car and driver also agrees lol). They are great cars and their handling is supurb. They're like a "poor man's" porche or ferrari.

Yes this is my first post. I have been reading the site along with others daily for months so i dont get replies like "search you dumb noob"

get a Z and enjoy the torque...jk...i'd test drive both Z and S2K and compare drivability, handling, space, etc. then make a decision.

i didn't like the S only because space, having to rev to 8k to hapily enjoy the car on a consistant basis (which is not the best on gas mileage), and the fact that it's a honda :)

all people are different but i'd test drive both!!!!

I love both cars. I love the high rev's of the f20c but also like the torque of the Z, so it goes both ways. However the space in the s2k is definately an issue. But then again, if you want a convertable (I think the z is ugly as a convertable) then the s2k ovsiously is a better choice.

I'd go with the Z just becuase I think its a better looking car, and I have no need for a convertable.

In the end, its your money and your decision.

ive driven both and enjoy the s2000 as a weekend car, but the Z is more daily livable/drivable. The torque is where it's at. My only complaint about teh Z is its sub-honda interior and its heft

I don't fit in the Z!!
stupid ass designers.
I went to test drive one, got the keys and tryed to sit in the car. I didn't even start the car, because I knew I coudn't fit and woulnd't buy it. my head it the top and my knees it the wheel with the seat all the way back. I do like the looks of the Z, but the door handles suck major ass. It feels smaller than my s13.
I have about $15,000 to spend on a car, s2000 looks pretty good IF i can fit comfortably. Thats a big IF. I fit well in my friends civic so i hope I can fit in a s200000000.

I heard S2000's are very small so big-Tall people will have a hard time fitting inside the cockpit. But never the less the S2000 is one hell of a sports car its got great looks,The handleing is just out of this world, and the price isnt that bad either, and then its a Honda those engines are tuff as shit and well built.

I hate convertibles and they were over priced from the beginning. If they were offered as coupes as well and were 3-4k cheaper you can bet your ass thousands more would have sold. I love em beside the convertible..

i love them. the exterior styline is awesome, interior looks amazing even. i think it looks 100x's better than the new Z. it will probably be my next car.

only rant, i hate them in silver. i hate silver cars......period.

s2k's are amazing cars I'd get one if I could. Then again I'm only 5'6" so it's a pretty nice fit for me, better than in a miata.

Since most of us aren't 6foot3inches, you decide the fitment yourself. But commenting on the rest of the car...it's simply amazing. I've never driven a better handling car in my life. The only thing is the car is really bare bones and carries a hefty price tag for what you get. But on the plus side not many cars out there have monocoque frames. The newer ones have a less oversteer built into them, they look better and are probably more driver friendly. They have 2.2L with only 8k redline, but more torque for daily driving and shorter gearing. The 2.0L are a pain to drive around town IMO. I was considering getting one over my Z06, and to this day i feel that either car is great in it's own way. I dont regret buying the vette, but i wouldn't have regretting buying the S2K either.

S2000 are really nice cars, if I can't find a good condition Q45 the s2k is likely the car I will buy. I prefer the first generation S2k's handling over the newer ones but I would test drive all the cars you can before buying and settling on a decision

^Q45???!? Thats a totally different league than the S2k. Just seems like a big jump to me.

yea G35 or R35 GTR, but s2k is awesome just too small for me im 5'11.

the g35 isn't a sports car per se, the s2000 is pretty much as good a driver's car as you can get for the money

looks wise, the s2k is all about the smooth and clean lines

Have you sat in an s2000? I'm 5'10'' and I felt there was plenty of room in there. Hell, even in the slightly older Miatas the cabin is only snug. The news Miata's are close to perfect.

S2k - amazing car, my buddy has one with a comptech supercharger, and i would have to say its pretty damn fast, as far as being a stock car it ran a 14.1 with no mods, definatly handles very well considering its steering setup and suspension setup is based off of hondas f1 car. as for being to small in side, it is definatly bigger than my Z, the kid that owns the supercharged one is 6'4" and loves the car,

can a z or used s2k be had for 15000? i thought they still go for at least 20k used.

IKnowAllOfNothing

s2k can be found for around 15000
I saw a nice s2000 with 110k for 13000

I think the cheapest a z can be bought for is 24ish

i say go for it if u comfortably fit inside of the vehicle and can get time to drive one like u think u would normally before u buy. i've been thinking about the same thing lately. i need something reliable, and i'm getting to the point where i still want a sports car, but i'm tired of "tinkering" with every little thing on this nissan to get it where i want it. i could put that money toward a nice newer vehicle and still have a bit of fun. like someone mentioned earlier in the thread, i too am not a huge fan of convertible tops either, but when i did research i found out an aluminium hardtop was/is avaliable as an option, i could see it as more a reality for me(bet the top cost a grip though :-( )

Depending on how much you're willing to pay, you definitely get what you pay for!

My friend is selling his S2000. A bit on the high side but if you want something in showroom condition - this is it. The previous owner was a car collector and pretty much kept it in mint condition for his collection.

just curious why is your friend selling it?

I think this is the question everyone asks. He has no time for the car. Between long work days, his project car and other stuff this car pretty much sits in his garage under a car cover all the time. Sometimes time is a luxury that you don't have.
