How does a one man show with no dyno trace a boost leak?
Took my first drive in the S13, and while it boosts and holds boost well, there's an obvious whistle that sounds (to my inexperienced ears) like a small diameter (so high pitched) leak under boost. Can I assume that the leak will be present under vacuum as well and try the starting fluid "spray at the joints" test?
Thanks for any help you can offer!
Oh yeah, for details: stock s13 turbo, Blitz DD BOV with an unbranched line from the TB, recirculating to the stock intake rubber pipe, wastegate lie T's to the FPR and the boost gauge, TurboXS manual boost controller; FMIC with silicone couplers from the hot pipe on, stock elbows on the hot pipe.
