Decisions... Decisions...
Well I have the money I have been so saving for the complete sr20det swap. Originally I was going to just turbo my KA but it is an automatic... in which I would not be able to enjoy/satisfy the new T like I would if it was a manual. After all this patience and money well saved, I have been looking at another car to purchase.
I found a guy selling a 2002 Lexus IS300 with 4100 miles on it, fully loaded, 5sp speed for $26000. After extensive research on this car... That is a damn good price, and he has a legit reason to sell it... So I am assuming nothing is wrong with it.
Anyhow, I was just curious to view comments on what people would rather daily drive (IS300 or 98 240sx w/sr20det)...Also, suggestion, info..., and which would be more expensive to maintain, etc....???

I dunno what to tell you. But if I had that moolah- I would spend it on an s15 conversion plus engine swap... oooooh baby, I would drive that day and night and would love the shit out of it <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/hehe.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':hehe:'> <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'> It'll look hotter than any IS300- and smoke'em too <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>
Just get altezza lights for you 240 <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'> j/k j/k hehe
I duno what I'd go for...
I think I would take a BMW over the IS300 though, then again you'd need a little bit more $ for one worth driving <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/hehe.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':hehe:'>
I say just leave it to the test drive...If you like it better take it <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumbs-up.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>
PS: blaqsilvia, I would take the money from the front conversion and put it into the engine...wana race? <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'>

To blaqsilvia>
Well here is my little situation -
What I was going to do is take the money I get from selling my car and the money saved for the sr20det conversion... and get a loan for the difference I would have to pay off the IS300... So that is one reason I could not do all that conversion shit... Don't have that much cash up front.. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/notify.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':notify:'>

The IS300 is a badass little car. RWD inline 6-Cyl. Great suspension. I think they look a little porky for my taste, but that is one of the few new cars out I would like to have. There is all sorts of aftermarket for that car. Of course, you wouldn't have any money left over FOR the aftermarket on that car. Where as your 240 would be built and badass for that $$.

The G35 would make that IS300 it's bitch, and then not even call it the next day.

Well, If I were you- I'd test drive the IS300- and if you like that more- then buy that and enjoy it. It's gonna be whatever makes you happy. Especially with a car, its a pretty big purchase for an average person, so you want to make sure your gonna have something thats going to make you happy.. so go with that.. and if I were you and getting the IS300, I would try to get a loan for a few thous more than the car and fix it up some.. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/satisfied.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':satisfied:'> my 2 cents <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

For the money, the IS300 is NOT worth it. For only 8000 more you're at MSRP on a brand new 350z TOP MODEL. The 350 would be far sportier and would kick the is300's ass in every area (except for how many chicks own it).
I would say, do more homework and find a better bang for your buck. Even the WR-x (although not as pretty) is better a better horsepower/handling bargain.
In the end, it's what you want to buy though and it's your money (if you want to make it mine, I can give you my address). <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>
Keep your eyes open on other cars you might like, but if your heart is set on the is300 that's a killer deal. I'd take one over my s14.
