Tires: Falken azenis st115
Size: 235-40F 245-40R or 215-45F 235-40R if you want a stretch

Yeah, St-115s are the bomb diggity. I had 18x8.5/9.5 +25 on my fastback with 225/245/40 ST-115s and loved em. The fronts could use some spacer though, they won't be as flush as the rears. You'll also need camber/roll in the rear, or less camber and some pull. Problem with 17s is no one makes a 225/40 in a 17 except Nitto 555s. Which leaves you with 215s or 235s. A lot of your decision is going to be what look you want. If you're looking for some stretch, I'd go with a 215/40 or 215/45 up front and a 235/40 out back. If you want some more meat, I'd run a 235/40 up front and a 255/40 out back. Technically you, you could run a 235/40 and a 245/40, but your rears will be more stretched than your fronts.
This is the 18x9.5 +25 with a 245/40 on it and -3.75 deg. of camber on a rolled fender, no pull. Absolutely perfect in my book. You could pull it a little or run a 235 if you want to take some camber out.

That should be great. It will also make sure you don't understeer as you won't have as much stretch up front as you do in the back. Your rears will fit just like mine for the most part (3mm more to the outside) so if you don't want -4 deg of camber, you'll need a slight pull. The fronts will be fine, you may want a 5-10mm spacer to flush them out like the rears. My 8.5 +25 up front was sunken unless I ran pretty much no neg. camber.

I'm sorry but what's the difference between a 235/40/17 and 235/45/17 ?
The price difference is something like $10 on discounttiredirect.com. The 235/40's are $108 each compared to the 235/45 being $98 or something.

are the st115s the best daily driving tire as well as occasional track tire?

RT-615 for the Front
ST-115 for the Rear
Fronts won't last as long but will have serious grip. Just don't drive in the wet!
Toyo Proxes FZ4 a good economic alternative to ST-115, especially as they get more rare.

to save a little bit of money, you could go with the hankook ventus series tires. great price, lots of sizes, and almost as much performance as the more expensive falkens...
viscid240

Will look into the hankook. A nice cheap alternative for now wouldn't hurt. I also don't want to suffer performance either, and longetivity.
Other brands are welcomed, as for now I am looking at the Falkens. I pick up my rims (fronts) tommarrow :).
Dousan: AD07s, whhat brand and what price am I looking at?
THX.

I love my st115s. Way better then Dunlop fm901 IMO. I use kuhmo 711 for daily beaters. Sucky tire, but super cheap hah.

Have to throw my .02 in. ST-115s are great, but I still like Cooper Zeon 2ZS better. Good grip, super predictible, rock hard sidewall. Love them.
www.tiresavings.com is where I get mine.

Remember, when asking such a broad question you must also inform us what the car is to be used for, local, autocross, drift? here is a link from club4ag that talks about that and what tires are the best for the sidewall strength they are classified in.
http://www.club4ag.com/faq%20and%20tech_pages/Tire%20Selection.htm
but my fav is the yoko advan es100 in 225/40/17f 245/40/17r

I've been using es100's over the years with the ocassional different tire setup here and there. Love es100's but they dont last that long. They grip like hell. Great in wet and dry. Fm's.....meh, they coo but not as good es's. ST115's i think are grrrrrrrrreat. Bout to scoop on some at discount tire. My old RE-01's were the best hands down that i've ever ridden on. There is an ad in the HCI magazine for the new RE-01R's on the Kingpin STi. But your prolly right aaron about mostly sponsored folks getting them. But it does say they will be available in 13-18" inch tire. I will pick those up to try.
i say get St-115's. Great price on Discount Tire.

try 195/45 or the 205 that usually come with the 240, but the stock 205/40 that come with the 240 se wheels are for 16x6 so x7 and x8 might strecth a bit, if thats what you want

well im running 451's right now and love them! they have plenty fo grip for my liking. not sure how the 452's compare to them. are they just a replacement for the 451?
overb0ost
05-06-2006, 06:04 PM
451 are the GB series which are like 280 treadwear. i heard they do grip better but they will burn up a lot faster. obviously if you are drifting, tires will burn up, but we all want tires that will take a beating so u can drive home on them at least.
for the replacement of the st-115. they are the called Falken 452 in my understanding. i heard the 512 last longer then the 451? is that true?
OptionZero
05-06-2006, 10:18 PM
512 is an allseason that has no businesss on a sports car that's trying to go fast
451/452 is the second grippiest tire they make, giving up some grip for a little more wear
115 is a daily driver performance tire...even more wear (according to their spec) but less ultimate grip
Rt615-215 is their top of the line tire, least concessions for wet traction and wear, but with super fuckin duper girp

F'ing love the rt-615. So much grip its insane. Well atleast with the suspension setup i have. Get them you will love them.

on some sites it actually says that the st-115 are all season tires, and then on the falken site it says they are "motorsport tires or luxery tires" is there 2 different versions or something?

The ST115 is supposed to be a glorified all season. I am looking forward to rocking my set ASAP.
