View Full Version : Greddy Type S Coilovers...might purchase

Well I think I might take a dive and purchase a set of these, haven't seen anyone on here who actually has a set yet, but I've read a bunch of positive reviews from fellow Z owners that they are really nice for the buck. I do though think the 32 way adjusting seems overkill. Another thing, my impression with other Greddy products seems to be top notch fitment, quality, and performance....so I can't see that they'd cop out with a set of coilovers.

I haven't ridden on other coilover setups so if and when I purchase and do a review I can't really give a good comparision to other coilover setups. What do you all think?

you think greddy would sell generic crap? they ARE made in japan (contact greddy) not in taiwan or china like other imitations

yeah greddy sells generic crap all the time. wow made in japan who cares. plus its probably assembled in japan. if you want to find out if its crap or not call them back and ask who provides the dampers and springs. going off the 32 way adjustability id bet cash they arent kyb or tokico.

look
some people I guess don't get it still.

Pretty much ALL the big companies get their parts from a "parent" type company.
example coilovers: lets say a big company produces all the springs, brackets, dampers, etc. They just sell them to the name brand companies and they get options of colors and whatnot. there are even different style brackets and stuff so that everything isn't exactly the same. I have seen, felt, heard, etc. everything to make this true. I have had first hand experience with it.

Anyways, just buy them
I'm sure they are perfectly fine.

it would be cool if someone sold all the components seperate
so then you could use whatever springs and dampers you wanted
custom ftw
kyb, tokico, koni, or nismo instert with swift spring on generic camber plate and mount would be sweet

yes, that would be so sick

service your own stuff

make up your own spec nahmeannnnns

on a side note i dunno what greddy was thinking on those....shouldve made them silver body with blue springs, collars, and upper mounts

i dont see how purple and red fits into their previous company colors

due to the american market all coilovers are going to be unfortunately start looking "generic" so really its a personal opinion as to how a suspension performs and fits your budget & driving style

I concur with this assesment.

1. HKS
2. GP Sports
3. D2 (i think)

maybe i'll just spend an extra 500 and get the new Tanabe sevens or maybe even the HKS hypermax rs. seeing that HKS will now be lowering prices in for their US products as of May 1st their coilovers may be more reasonable.

i don't want to spend 1200 on a set of coilovers that are valved the same as megans, it just doesn't make sense...the extra 500 will go a considerably longer way in quality build of a coilover system

The HKS RS and the Tanabe 7s are the ones i'm looking at right now. I heard good things on the HKS and only seen one review on the 7s. Right now i'm leaning towards the 7s, but with only one review from a 350z I'll wait alittle longer. I have KTS' right now and I need more comfort.

My thoughts too but then again if he is complaning about stiffness there is allways just a few clicks on the coil and soft setting. But if you want performance you gotta compramise something else which is comofrt.

Who the hell are you going to try to tell me to live my life. I've been in cars that drive great with coilovers over shit roads. Why don't you get off your high horse and get back in the crapper were you belong. Now I understand that coilovers are geared more toward performance than comfort, at the same time I have be told some companies do try to keep comfort in mind as well. If the HKS or tanabe coilover can't provide what i'm looking for then say so instead of being a bitch ass internet tuff guy.

I doubt that HKS and tanabe have what you need, Stick with KTS or Megan I have the megans that they are pretty tolerable for daily use.

I already have kts and if you ever been on highway 101 in norcal... hell your in cali already so you know how the roads are. The kid I bought the car from had it dunked so low that the front tire was starting to eat into the wiring in the wheel well. I have slowly been adjusting the settings and so far it's day to day. The HKS's have a lower spring rate, and I have read and also have been told that higher priced coilovers tend to have better adjusting when it comes to performance and comfort. I don't know if that is fluff from guys trying to justify their higer priced coilovers or not. Thats why I posted here in the first place. I believe I still have to much prload on the rears and I hope to get to them on my day off, but at the same time find other solutions.

Yeah if you're loking for comfort, the Tanabe Seven is the complete wrong direction.

You'd probably knock your son's teeth out with those bad boys
