Hey guys. I found a very nice '93 LE 5 speed for $7000 Can. It's got 142,000 kms and is very clean. I was thinking about buying it and keeping it through college while I save up. You know, sort of like a slow ongoing project while I save up for something really nice. I really want the 240SX because of the RWD and all the potential that it has, unlike most FWD cars.

I know that I need a decently quick car for sure. What type of performance numbers does the '93 5 spd have stock? Any estimates on how much power I'd have with a complete exhaust from the headers back and an intake? What is a KA powered S13 capable of normally aspirated with just bolt ons?

I'm sorry for all my newbyish questions, but I really have to decide if the 240 is right for me.

Try giving people more than 10 minutes before you bump the thread.

Anyway, you can expect about 155hp at the crank stock and probably 135-140 at the wheels. With all basic bolt-ons, you can probably bring it up to about 175-180 crank / 155-160 at the wheels.

There are numerous turbo kits available for the KA24DE, which that car came with, but depending on mileage, it might not be a great idea unless you do a rebuild. I'm not sure how KM's translate into Miles, but i'm guessing that woudl be about 80-90K miles? That's more than I'd want to have for a newly turbo'd engine, but if you're willing to put some work into it, it could take it.

You've got a few options for engine swaps. The CA18DET can be had for about 1400-1800 dollars, and the SR20DET for around 2200. Labor probably around 1300 dollars for either install, though they're fairly easy swaps since they are stock engines in japan and europe.

Other than that, you need to go out and drive one to see if it's right for you. Every car feels different, as i'm sure you know, and you have to find the car that feels right to you.

He was close, I've seen dyno sheets for stock 240s, it is 132 rwhp at the wheels. They run 8 Sec 0-60 and 1/4 mine in 16.3 secs. Not too bad. I'd imagine with the mods you're talking, if you remove the cat you'd get about 150 to the wheels or somewhere around there, like he said.
