Im looking into a 240Z, and was wondering what kind of aftermarket it had. Does it even exist? <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'> I've seen this one near my house in MINT condition, sweet metallic blue. *Drools all over himself* Does anyone know the potential on these cars? i drove a 72 240z before i got my s14. the car was a blast to drive. aftermarket is pretty good. i'll dig up some websites. i still have a scc mag with a turbo 240z. it was from like last year sometime.

i recently bought a 72 240z for around $700 and its an amazing car. I plan to swap the engine later, but the stock OHC really puts out the revs. Good luck with that Z.

Well, lets see...about 7 grand? How bout a 350 with aluminum heads and intake manifold and accesories (so its just as light as the straight 6)? Hehe, but if ya dnt wanna go that route, lots of people swap in the l28t from the newer uglier 280ZX turbos and mod them up real nice!

They'll run fine on the top end. Personally I'd get a ls-1 or ls-6 (engines from the corvettes/camaros) with a 6 speed tranny of course.

Other engines for the 240Z that I would consider....

Also forgot, if your looking for top speed a 240Z is a very bad choice.

Whats the matter with it in the high end? &nbsp;Gear ratios?

No aerodynamics. There design isn't the best for high speed. To be close to stable you'd want a new front end definatly and a huge whale tail in the back (like the old porsche 911's) Not saying they can't go high speed it's just not there best area.

Yes, the old z cars have a drag coefficiency of .57 or something. That is really bad, probably equivilent to a Subura Brat or something.. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'>

Also, the undercarriage of the car isn't very streamlined, so unless you get a front spoiler or some side skirts, they tend to get skittish at high speeds.

But for $7000 grand you could build a killer Z on a budget. That includes suspension and motor. Drop in a L28et or throw a early L24 head on a l28 block for a nice street NA motor on a budget. Otherwise, for about $3000-5000, you could do a v8 conversion or have a N/A motor built that will push close to 200rwhp..thats alot for a 2300lb car.

hahahaha thats a joke . 240Z's are great for drifting. If you get a early 72 or earlier they are 2400Lb cars and are completely tossable . I learned to drift in 510's and 240z's having owned 10 of them over the course of time I can tell they are a blast in a drift and very tail happy.

I was also a 510 freak B4 i got my S13.....had five 510s total.

If you had 7k to spend, I'd say take your engine to Rebello. They'll bring back a MONSTER! Mate it with a triple-set of 50mm F.I.A. Mikunis and you got yourself an N.A. Rocket!

hehe, if you're looking for a NA power, a 350 V8 is capable of a whole hell of a lot more than 200 hp. I'm sure with the right work you could push 400 on your budget. . .

Its not my budget, but I wanted to know how far you could go with that. &nbsp;I could save that much by the time im 17 no problem.
