like the title says, i got my key stuck in the ignition! i tried to turn it on and off multiple times but the key wont come out! i disconnected the battery
(30sec)thinkin it might be an factory keyless issue but it still wont come out of the ignition. the only thing new i did was take out my factory radio for a day then plugged it back in. can anyone help out a fellow 240 brother and tell me how to get my key out..... thnx

As you hold the key between your thumb and second finger, your first finger should rest onor just behind the button.

forget what i said i was thinking of it backwards before
when you did the auto to manual swap, did you remove the cable that connected your auto shifter and ignition? if not then thats the problem and when you messed with the radio it moved the cable back making the ignition lock. take off the covers around the ignition and find the metal cable that routes to the shifter hole. pull that assembly off and u should be able to get your key out
edit: FYI automatics do NOT have the button around the ignition (on S14s at least). only manuals because nissan didnt want people pulling the keys out of the ignition when it was not in park. manuals have the button because there is no "park" position in the transmission

If you really can't find the button, or it doesn't work; you can take off the lower cover of the steering column right behind your steering wheel and reach up to where the key cylinder is....their should be a very small lever/tab. Push it up and hold it, turn your key, and it should come out no problem.

i repeat, he DOES NOT have the button. he car was automatic therefore, no button on ignition. it's the park position cable. im 99.99999% sure
.00001% chance something else is messed up

is it auto? put it in drive then back in park.

you missed where he said it was an auto to 5 speed swap. On s13's both the autos and the manuals have the button on the ignition switch. It must have been a design change on S14's.

Had the same problem. Heres what you do:
1. remove shifter cover/boot
2. look for the auto nuetral safety cable(long metal cable that determies if your car is in park when it was originally auto)
3. tug on the end of it.
4. your key is out.

u can just tug the end of it, but if it is moved for some reason or another, it can push the cable in and end up locking the key again. that is why i suggest the entire removal of the cable and lock system connected to the ignition

what are you guys talking about? haha i did the auto to manual switch, there was a button to pull the key out. haha if you take off the cover around your key, there should be a lil white tab inside. its quite small, so u kinda have to look carefully for it. if you use a pin or something small, you can push it in and the key will come lose.

s13 or s14?
as stated above all S13's had the button auto or manual
we are talking about S14's here. All automatic S14's i've come by do NOT have the button. people please read the ENTIRE thread before posting, in any thread not just this one. if you are talking about a S14 i retract my statement and i guess nissan just mixed up another thing on our cars.

Sorry to bump this thread back to life but my key isn't coming out unless I tap the button with a ball point hammer and turn the key at the same time.
I'm considering just taking out the locking mechanism tomorrow just to fix the problem and be done with it. But to double check, removing this locking mechanism will only remove the locking mechanism of when the key is being turned to 'lock'? It will not remove any other locking state such as if I am driving and I hit a bump or pull on the key, the key will not be able to just pull out? There are no bad things, security flaws, etc. from removing the locking button mechanism?
I just want to reassure myself before I pull something apart that it turns out I didn't want to pull out at all.

So, check it out. I had the same problem (Key stuck) I removed that damn cable. Key came out :hs: . But now I get CEL  . Code 103 = Park/Neutral switch. So I reattached the cable, reset ECU, still CEL!!
What is it looking for???
BTW no sensor or wire on the cable.
Thanks in advance!
