ball joints for rear lower control arm?

I searched and saw a few posts where the lower control arm needs to be replaced if you need new ball joints. I'm curious if since then someone's found a part number or a ball joint that can be pressed into your existing lower control arms?

not that I know of, you have to buy the whole control arm

I don't think that's really feasible. You could try to find a ball joint assembly made by people like FK or Aurora.

Auto zone said they can sell the ball joint for about 30 bucks and then just goto some place to have it pressed in.

careful what autozone tells you. i think the front LCA ball joints are replaceable but the rears aren't. the FSM says to replace the whole arm if the ball joint is out of spec.

I work at autozone and im sure i can get the front ones because i've gotten them before for my s14. We will even lend you a tool to replace the ball joints.

the fronts arent in question though, the rears however I was also told need to be replaced, thats why im looking for 2 LCAS right now.

from looking at the rear lower control arm and front lower control arm the ball joints look to be the same both front and back...didnt get to measure them but i dont see why the rears couldnt be replaced.

Someones gotta try this. I should be since my subframe is out right now and I have access to a press, and I wanna make sure my ball joints are good, but im just too lazy poor to do it.

yes but I dont know many people who are going to pay 300 bux for factory quality control arms. although I guess if you want better performance without pillow ball, you could opt for the set with pressed in aftermarket bushings, o that boosts it to 480, absolutely rediculous.

mjjstang: try it out..im almost positive it should work, i had my subframe off and had to replace a front lower control arm and they look identical..like i said before i didnt get to measure but it definately looks like it should work..that, and when i went to autozone i asked for the front control arm ball joint and when it came up on the computer it just said nissan 240sx ball joint, it didn't specify front or rear..so i think this will work, oh and they look to be pressed in the same way and have the same snapring.

I belive someone on NICO replaced a rear ball joint with a front ball joint and it worked for them, but I couldn't find the thread

from looking at napa website that gives you different pics of the ball joint i'd say the b13 sentra ball joint "looks" about right for s13 rear.

I agree with you..I just replaced my front ball joints this weekend and they
are a lot larger than whats on the rear.
